Lonely Day is pretty garbage though.

I completely and wholeheartedly disagree, Lonely Day and Roulette are two of my favorite SoaD songs. Although I will say that "the most loneliest day of my life" is a pretty dumb line, it's just delivered so well.

The lyrics in Lonely Day are some of the worst lyrics ever written by anyone in the history of everything.

But I really really like the music, so overall I like the song.

Ariich is a freak, or somehow has more hours in the day than everyone else.

I think they're meant to be stupid. They're pretty cynical, like the rest of their lyrics.

This.  The lyrics are horrible.  And even though SOAD write some bad lyrics from time to time, they couldn't have written something THAT FUCKING STUPID without intentionally setting out to do so.

Oh obviously they're deliberate, but that still doesn't excuse them from being really bad. :lol

Most of SOAD's lyrics, while often very pretentious, are well written and have some great moments. Lonely Day is not one of them.

This.

I might just be talking from a fanboi point of view, but a very good portion of SoaD's song writing is borderline brilliant. On one hand, you have songs that come off as just...silly. But at the same time, they have a point to get across, through their silliness. On the other hand, there is hardly ever just one meaning to be found within their music, aside from a few songs that have specific back stories behind the lyrical content (Kill Rock n Roll).

Sometimes it's almost a mindblowing experience to find something new within the song writing and lyrical content of SoaD's music.
I felt its length in quite a few places.

I love System of a Down. Especially their weird range of songs, going from Chic n' Stu and Sugar, to Aerials and Toxicity.

Mezmerize/Hypnotize are pretty good albums. I don't understand how low people put this album.

Mezmerize is great! I don't like Hypnotize though, except for the last song.

Mezmerize is great, very solid.

Besides a few decent songs, Hypnotize is godawful.

Hypnotise has become one of those albums it's cool to hate. It's a really solid album, it's just not up to par with Mesmerize.

I don't get the hate for Hypnotize either, i'm not too sure about what people criticize the album for, but i think it's a good album.
I would probably rank it as their second worst, over 'self-titled' (which i really like, but i think it's a bit unpolished, has many great ideas, but also lacks some power IMO).
The songs i like/really enjoy on Hypnotize:

Dreaming
Kill Rock N Roll
Hypnotize
Stealing Society
Holy Mountains
Lonely Day
Soldier Side

Also, i'd say Attack is a better 'goofy'-song then Cigaro. :)

Besides a few decent songs, Hypnotize is godawful.
I used to think this about 6 months ago, until a friend of mine and I had a conversation about the difference between Mezmerize/Hypnotize. She brought up the point that well, both albums are much more "refined" and "well crafted" albums compared to their first three releases. That's not to say the other are crap, not in the slightest. But musically, Mezmerize and Hypnotize are not so all over the place.

That said, I used to hate Hypnotize, until I decided I'd be honest with myself on how many terrible songs were on the album. I came up with two songs I find absolutely terrible. Hypnotize and Lonely Day.

I don't think Hypnotize (the song) is too bad, but it was without any doubt a baffling choice as first single off the album.

Fantastic band, I recall one day, like 6 years ago, when I bought both the debut and Toxicity. I was floored and I even wasn't into heavy music. Toxicity remains as my favorite album by them, nowadays.

Steal this Album has some fantastic material, but some of the songs feel like filler to me. Same thing with Mesmerize/Hypnotize; some amazing music, but some other meh moments.

I can (almost) imagine your excitement. At the rate reunions usually take place, I don't think we'll get a United States tour for a little while though... but we can still revel in the fact that they're reunited.

I know, I'm just playing with him. Whenever news of this level gets announced (this might take the cake though) like the American Carnage Tour, Iron Maiden tour, etc... he posts gratuitously enthusiastic posts in large capital letters.
