The official Epysode thread
« on: November 26, 2012, 02:02:52 PM »
Nem's gonna kill me for not letting her start this thread, but this band is awesome - the brainchild of Samuel Arkan.  Album 1 (Obsessions) is amazing... super awesome prog-metal, fantastic concept, great cast of musicians (including Kris Gildenlow) and vocalists (incl Kelly Sundown and Magali Luyten).

They just announced who's playing bass for their second album

Quote
EPYSODE II Bass player revealed: MIKE LEPOND from SYMPHONY X - "A few very talented people were on Sam’s list and Mike was the right choice for this next album ! Enjoy and welcome Mike onboard !"

I'll let Nem add more... she's the one that introduced me to them, and the biggest fangirl around.

Hey! I couldn't get around starting a thread! Glad you did it Chad!!!!

The most criminally underrated project of all time.. Seriously... It's nothing less than awesome.. I have been drooling all over it since it came out...

Samuel is now in studio working on the 2nd one.. with new set of vocalists and musicians...

Check out this video.. if you're interested, I am leaving the links to my review of the first album, and my interview with Sam for you to check out...

Oh, dude!  When you have 7 spare minutes, go check the YT video "Obsessions". I'm not gonna disclose where it lies on my top 50, but as you may recall from my Roulette, this is the track that "moved " me. As in George Costanza "I think it moved".

From their FB page:

Quote
EPYSODE: new album “Fantasmagoria” to be released on October 11th!

The dark progressive/power metal project EPYSODE returns with its sophomore album “Fantasmagoria” on October 11th.
The successor to “Obsessions” (2011) was mixed and mastered by Jacob Hansen at Hansen studio in Denmark (Volbeat, Pretty Maids, Amaranthe a.m.m.)
Beside band leader Samuel Arkan, the following vocalists and musicians contributed to “Fantasmagoria”:

Tom S. Englund (Evergrey)
Henning Basse (Melium, Uli Jon Roth)
Ida Haukland (Triosphere)
Matt Marinelli (Borealis)
Tezzi Persson (Between The Silence)
Mike LePond (Symphony X)
Léo Margarit (Pain Of Salvation)
Julien Spreutels (Ethernity)
Simone Mularoni (DGM)

The quite unusual thing is that all these guests came to the Noise Factory studio (Belgium) to track down their parts. Nobody recorded his/her parts at home, like with some many other projects.

“I wanted the whole thing to get a real “band” feeling”, Arkan says. “Therefore having all vocalists and musicians here was very important to me. We got to know each other better and better while spending time together. The new material sounds very fresh, dark, heavy, modern and "true" with "straight in the face" guitar riffs, intense voices and melodies, massive work on progressive atmospheres and orchestral parts. All the artists who participated in this album gave their soul to it, gave their best, they travelled deeper into sensitivity and sincerity. That's probably the best words which define "Fantasmagoria"... sincerity & spontaneity ! This album comes from the heart of each musician and vocalist who worked on it, and you can feel it when you listen to this new EPYSODE album.”

“Fantasmagoria” tracklisting:

01. File-41-80-2
02. The Arch
03. Morning Rose
04. Venom
05. The Black Parade
06. T.H.O.R.N.S.
07. Garden Of Exile
08. Raven’s Curse
09. Living Fortress
10. Fantasmagoria
11. The Inheritance
12. Now And Forever
13. Forgotten Symphony
14. Unreal

I think I'm gonna have a 'fantasmagorgasm'

:footloose: :woot: :happydance: :caffeine: :fistpump:

too funny that Ida Haukland is on both this and the new Ayreon.  Wonder if anyone we know had a hand in that ??  :eyebrows:

Unfortunately, this album won't live up to the debut... next album will be even worse....

Tom Englund was great in the studio though....

Really???  Why so?  I mean, sure... it's virtually impossible to match something as awesome as Obsessions (best find in 2 years... thx Nem), but please tell me it's still gonna kick all kinds of ass.

Please??

Such a shame Epysode doesn't get the love it deserves.  Just thought I'd leave this here too.  Just got my physical copy earlier this week, and am spending some quality time with the story.  What do I find in the liner notes?

:hefdaddy

Anyone else around here have themselves thanked in two liner notes within the span of a couple of weeks?  Nope, didn't think so.

Big bump, but this was on FB this morning from Epysode:

Quote
Epysodians ! Soon some news from the long EPYSODE s journey ...

Sam's had a rough go with some debilitating health issues, so it's been a bit of a delay.  SOOOOOO looking forward to the next segments of this story/music.
