Thank You Scientist
« on: November 15, 2012, 03:26:37 AM »
It's basically a mix of Coheed and Cambria, The Mars Volta, and DT. Really awesome stuff. Check it out.

Jackie is the official ambassador of this band, and has been for a long time.

Whoops, didn't realize this band already had a thread here. If a moderator's reading this you can delete this thread.

Edit: Never mind.

I would actually keep this one open. My thread from last year was to introduce them and get donations for the kickstarter, but the title doesn't even have the band name in it (https://www.dreamtheaterforums.org/boards/index.php?topic=29279.msg1150965#msg1150965)... so this can be the official discussion thread or whatever.

That said, these guys fucking rock :metal

How did you discover them, adace?

Someone posted a thread about them over at 5/8.

Sweet! Glad to see they are getting exposure. I would go participate over at 5/8 but that decision always seems to go badly  :lol

Yeah, I know what you mean  :lol  They seem to have more of an "in-crowd" mentality over there compared to DTF which is why I tend to be cautious with my posts there.

Well, I am cool with many of the posters over there since I was around a lot when the forums first split, but it seems like a few folks over there just have it in for me, so every time I show up they talk all kinds of shit.

But that is for another thread. I just realized- I donated to the kickstarter and never got the album! I will have to go harass them.

I've had their Bandcamp site bookmarked for months but I haven't had a chance to listen yet. I'll give them a listen this weekend.

I don't know how you would put a label on this, but these guys kick ass.  I was checking out their facebook while I was listening, just to get an idea of who I'm listening to.  You can tell by the "member names" that these guys have a sense of humor, and then I find a pic of the lead singer on stage wearing a wig and a leotard.  Seriously awesome music from some not so serious guys.

Got their CD for Christmas after immediately getting hooked from their youtube tracks. I also heard about them on 5/8.

I think the vocalist sounds like Michael Jackson at times.

Yeah, I've listened to it a ton now and really digging it. Seems like I'm destined to never see them live, though. I missed a couple shows for various reasons, then last fall I went back east specifically to see their Halloween show with my friends' other band, and there was a goddamn blizzard! Maybe next time...

These guys are great...The horns make that much more interesting.

I'm really enjoying Feed The Horses.

Actually, it sounds more, if Bruno Mars sang for Coheed and Cambria but with Dream Theater/Protest The Hero instrumentals....with a funky horn section.

These guys are for real.  The EP is just as good, only shorter.

About the vocals, I can't help but hear the influence of Kenny Loggins.  I don't know if it's the sound of his voice combined with the analog type sound, but there are several vocal sections that remind me of Loggins.

I'd call them an amazing progmetaljazzfusionfunk band with Claudio Sanchez and Michael Jackson's baby on vocals.  I've listened to Maps of Non-Existent Places every day since I got it.  I'll need to check out the EP next!

Just saw these guys in New Jersey with The Tea Club (another great band), and holy shit were they good!! The sound was a bit muddy, but that didn't detract from the show. They have a ton of energy live, and I'd see them again in a heartbeat.
