You guys are awesome, just waiting on King and Lowdz to send, and for Jingle to re-send.

Prolly won't get my selection nailed down until later tonight or tomorrow morning.

Any and every thread can be a chat thread.  I'd better improve upon Round 1's performance.  These monkey balls leave a bad taste.

I will be unable to submit songs on the weekend.  Sorry.  So for the next round, lonestar, if you don't mind, could you please make the submission deadline, say, Monday afternoon or something?

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. Working all weekend. But I'm off Monday so that'll work.

I am really stuck for the third round. There are so many songs to choose from that are 4-5 minutes long.  I spent a lot of time listening to different ones last night and I still can't decide.
Then I stumbled accross something I wish I had submitted for Round 2.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

OK, second round song sent  :hat

What song did you send first round?  RJ forgot to mention which it was.

Dat bad-ass guitar solo

And the closing riff....

Just checked this. Yeah, that's good stuff. I will likely order it today.

I actually think I'm set for the rest of the rounds. It's just the next one I'm having a problem with. Today, I will try and get some back ups ready just in case one gets rejected.

Backup plans are definitely required.  The tricky part is when to play your cards/bands.  There are bound to be a few that more than one of us are thinking of, and do ya hang on for a 6 or 7 minute round, and then someone beats you to the punch (as Lowdz did with Harem Scarem for me, and Barry did with HoC on a couple of us).  Decisions, decisions.

Also, as mentioned, The Voyage of Jonas is still streaming over at www.progstreaming.com if you want to give it a run through.  But, it is worthy of a purchase - as are their prior releases.

I really don't think I'll be ninja'd. I'd be shocked, frankly.

Given Lonestar's review of the first Harem Scarem song, Lowdz may have actually done you a favor.

OK guys, for those of you asking about the next round's submission time, it won't be till next week. My weekends are fucked at best.

Another contestant asked for a list of band submissions rejected so far, here ya go...

Symphony X
Riot
Ric Emmet

That's all, continue the socializing...

Nah, there's plenty of gold in their discography.

9 out of 10 times, if the song isn't addressing partying, drinking, or f*cking, I have a hard time staying focused on it.
So I suppose Dream Theater makes up exactly 1/10 of your music collection?

Mine was a definite gamble this round. Lyrics have never  been that important to me. Alot of the stuff I listen to is written in the artist's second language so to expect poetry is unfair. Awful lyrics would put me off but they aren't a dealbreaker.
Had to shelve me first choice cos I realised theere was a time limit. I guess great lyrics need more than 4.00!
And Lonestar already knows Steel Panther or Community Property would have won

Maybe not Community Property, but Turn Out The Lights would have  :lol

Lyrics have always been a vital part of it for me. I can enjoy a song with average or standard lyrics, but when the lyrics and music mesh to tell a story or portray an emotion, that is the gold for me.

I will try to post results in the morning, no guarantees though, weekends are always tricky to maneuver.

Oh I agree wholeheartedly. That's why I loved Rush and early Marillion.

OK folks, just ran through my first round of listenings, and fucking winners across the board musically. Killer batch of songs. One little hiccup though, the last song was the only one I didn't previously check, and it was a no-go band, so I'm waiting for another submission.

Add Echolyn to the no-go list folks.
