Who would win in a fight? (DT DEATHMATCH)
« on: November 08, 2012, 12:23:49 PM »
The stage is set. Literally. These five men are caged onstage with all their instruments and gear and THERES NO WAY OUT. And theres NO HOLDS BARRED.

Only one will survive. Whats going down tonight in this final evening with dream theater???
"All great works are prepared in the desert, including the redemption of the world. The precursors, the followers, the Master Himself, all obeyed or have to obey one and the same law. Prophets, apostles, preachers, martyrs, pioneers of knowledge, inspired artists in every art, ordinary men and the Man-God, all pay tribute to loneliness, to the life of silence, to the night." - A. Jordan would probably win with his killer app.

John Myung.

His calm demeanor probably hides the most epic set of fighting skills ever.
Perhaps you should ask bosk to reverse the "e" and "a" in the second half of your user name.

Any result other than Petrucci just doesn't make any sense. JP would rip everyone to shreds.

I, too, voted for John Petrucci, but on second thoughts, he's such a mild-mannered bloke. He'd play fair! Way too much of a gentleman to be able to beat a pirate in a fight. Chalk another one up for James LaBrie.

JP is no doubt strong, but I wonder how athletic and coordinated he could be. JMX is a big guy too and seems pretty lean and tough. My votes for JMX.

Here's my honest rundown:

JLB: Surely big enough and strong enough to handle his own and not afraid to get his hands dirty but I think he's too nice to really have enough emotional investment in a fight against friends to be the alpha. I think MP is the only person he could get forced into being willing to give his all against.

JM: I think his strong devotion to his beliefs would make it take quite a bit to arouse his anger to a point where he'd be willing to throw despite the fact that he's easily the most in-shape dude in the lot.

JR: Too happy-go-lucky to be interested in fighting and by the time push comes to shove the opposition may have already gotten into too advantageous of a spot for him to overcome.

MM: At his small size, he'd either have to be exceptionally trained in fighting or hot-tempered enough to make up for it so the fact that he's super cool and super nice makes him a difficult person to bet on.

MP: Surely ain't lacking in the "will to fight" area but is a bit smaller than JLB and JP.

JP: Very nice dude but I think he could separate himself from that just enough to be able to say "Fuck it! Some ass is getting kicked today and it sure as shit ain't gonna be mine!"

Portnoy said on The Score So Far that when he met Myung, JMX was really into martial arts. Assuming he's largely retained the skill, he's gotta be the pick. And he's the only member of the band who's ever tackled another on stage!
Yeah, I have no idea what the cakeless person in that analogy is meant to be eating. If he's got some sort of cake substitute, it should really have been worked into the narrative at some point. As it stands, the options are:

  • Hoard a cake just to stare blankly into its doughy edifice.
  • Make futile chewing motions with your mouth while starving to death.

The Bear has a power but the ninja is fast and skillful. The pirate is really crafty and no one can beat the Wizard's spells. Genie will also invent something really terrible.

This is a hard choice!

JP and JR could be potential winners, but my vote goes to JMX - he could use some ninja moves or just destroy everyone with his psychic skills.

Beartrucci was the obvious choice, but I like what Nekov has to say about JMX. And JLB could open-fire on his cannons and blast them all to bits...and JR could cast a deadly spell...oh my!

In regards to Petrucci, has anyone actually seen him fight?  Because there's a lot more to fighting than just being huge and strong.  Someone with a bit of a martial arts background could potentially destroy him.
