I will tell you all about these last fantastic couple of weeks once the roulette is over, and I really should sell the story rights to Netflix. Just to tease: I drove from Rome to Madrid, and back.

Thanks for both the patience and the humour.

lonestar: Hanabie – Be the Gal:

Overall Value: 2. The epitome of Chaotic Evil, with a sprinkle of focking absurd. An irritating  pendulum swinging from Elastica to Ministry, with an incredible middle thrash section and a spoken sentence perfectly expressing the song's spirit.

Orc Factor: 0. Because it both smears the song (-1) in its best central section and brings together nicely (1) the dual nature of the main theme.

Total: 2.

King: Persefone – Lingua Ignota:

Overall Value: 4. No flaws detected. Epic, technical, heavy and melodic in equal parts, exhuding a kind of In the Presence of Enemies “we can play it all” kind of vibes. Now, how you would want to ruin it with kobolds is just beyond me.

Orc Factor: -1. The song is too good to be utterly ruined, but still what the fock! What are orcs actually supposed to add here?

Total: 3.

ariich: Between the Buried and Me – Voice of Trespass:

Overall Value: 3. You send Manouche crazy hard rock with horns, solo sections, and Sabbath to Purple detours because you just know I know you know it's gotta be my cup of tea. However it loses momentum in too many spots on its road to perfection.

Orc Factor: 0. You don't put Django in the same room with goblin becuase manners. Still, they don't move any needles .

Total: 3.

wolfking: Brymyr – Wings of Fire:

Overall Value: 3. Absolutely nothing original is to be found here, but the level of epicness, speed, and technicality is off the charts. Also, the “short” running time is just perfect and really helps in the punch packing factor.

Orc Factor: -1. The orcs really fart on the song here, but the song goes too fast and hard to let the stench totally desrupt it.

Total: 2.

Jazzo: Witherscape – Dead for a Day:

Overall Value: 2. First impression was: adding orcs would be the only possible way to make a Creed ballad even worse. Then the song kinda redeems itself, mainly on account of a great toned solo.

Orc Factor: 1. Surprise. Once you get what the song wants to say, you realise orcs are the foundations of the scheme.

Total: 3.

Evermind: White Ward – Love Exchange Failure:

Overall Value: 1. Totally a me problem, but absolutely wrong choice nonetheless, pal. I can appreciate the atmospheric intro, but a whole song of oppressive wall of mood just hurts my musical expectations.

Orc Factor: 0. Good news is no kind of vocals, no matter how abysmal, could ruin what is already ruined.

Total: 1.

jingle: Kamelot – Liar Liar:

Overall Value: 3. Nice epic heavy metal, with a couple of nice surprises along the way and a definite invitation to explore a life long ignored discography. Naturally, the Canuck Cheat Commander sent the bare minimum of orc amount.

Orc Factor: 0. Canadian Cheat Corporal.

Total: 3.

Luke: Trivium – Shogun:

Overall Value: 4. Song of the round, gentlemen. A real heavy metal epic sung with a young Hetfield fervor (songs like this could have been AJFA's naturak evolution had Cliff slept in the right bunk) and featuring melodic openings in Ύ (always a win) and beautiful solos.

Orc Factor: 1. Good kobold (funny tone at that) banter I can appreciate making sense.

Total: 5.

Elite: Wilderun – The Garden of Fire:

Overall Value: 3. The extreme metal parts are both interesting and unlistenable, the folk epic section is just beautiful, while the overall melodies and Mahler hints are really clever and pleasant. The good, the bad, and the ugly are equally always engaging.

Orc Factor: 2. Many voices, each one perfect for its section, being the secret sauce of this hidden in plain sight suite.

Total: 5.

Right, please send for the Vanquishing Darkness round, who hasn't already done so.

IMPORTANT:

The points acquired during this round (both through hangman and results) are Counterstrike Points, i.e. counter attack overtake ammo you have in case (and only in case) you get overtaken in the final TWO (I know I mentioned final round only, but scratch that) rounds.

Let's try to explain:

Player x has 6 Reaction Points; he/she doesn't get overtaken in Round VIII, nothing happens. He/she gets SUCCESSFULLY overtaken in round IX, then automatically he/she tries an overtake 6 positions ahead of her NEW position. Counterstrike overtake is not atomatically successful though: it still needs to beat its target in order to come to fruition.

It's a one shot occurrance triggered by being successfully overtaken during either of the LAST TWO ROUNDS, and it's completely automatic. It may never happen (if you're never successfully overtaken) and if it does, it's a singular event you don't have any power over.

REACTION POINTS:

ariich: 3
Buddy: 3
Crow: 2
Elite: 5 + 1 = 6
Evermind: 1
Jazzo: 3 + 5 = 8
jingle: 3 + 1 = 4
King: 3
lonestar: 2 + 2 = 4
Lonk: 3
Luke: 5
Puppies: 3 + 1 = 4
romdrums: 5
Sacul: 4
Stadler: 1
TAC: 2 + 1 = 3
wolfking: 2 + 1 = 3

Thank you. Now please submit because I hate slow roulette threads.

Song of the round, high praise indeed, and I will surely take it.

How come I don't have any reaction points?

Yep, had to send Trivium at their proggiest.

If I had to guess, I'd say this one has the best chance of taking top honors. Solid submission.

Nailed it.

So apparently you left my score in Madrid while you were there!

Help a brother out; why are only some songs listed there?

I sent for this upcoming round like weeks ago.

Because it's the second item of a double-header. Part One is a couple of pages back.

So I have 5 Reaction Points, but does that mean I have no overtake points going into this round?
