This was a Survivor I did 2 years ago in which I took DT's (then and still current) 6 Multi-Movement songs and had you all rank out their movements to decide which Movement of each song was the best, then I took the best movement from each and pitted them against each other.

For reference, here were the Finals results of the 2010 Survivor:
1. V. Razor's Edge
2. V. Another World
3. VI. Solitary Shell
4. I. It's Raining
5. I. Prelude
6. V. Exodus

This time around, I will do the same exact thing, but I think I may throw in the winning movement of the Twelve-Step Suite Movements Survivor (I. Reflection, from "The Glass Prison") into the Finals, pitting 7 movements against each other to find out which you think is the best!

Below, I will update each Song's Survivor after each one is done.

I. Reflection (Twelve-Step Suite)
V. Another World (A Change Of Seasons)
V. Exodus (The Killing Hand)
III. The Wasteland (Trial Of Tears)
VI. Solitary Shell (Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence)

Eh, I've always thought that Solitary Shell was overrated. It's definitely not the worst "movement" of SDOIT but it really surprises me that so many people here think it's the best. Still, this has been fun and the whole movement survivor thing is an awesome idea.

Good to see that Razor's Edge didn't win again! Another World would be my pick as well.

Also, thanks for doing this, Marc, 'twas fun.

It's interesting to see that in two years the only swap in the finalists has been It's raining <--> The Wasteland.

I would rank Exodus higher and Razor's Edge lower, but overall these results are better than last time around.

Sure, they are better than those of 2010. I would have wanted ATC-Reprise in the lot instead of Solitary Shell, though, and Exodus ranked a bit higher. See you in two years, maybe with a handful of new movements to throw in the contest  ;)

Let's hope so! Needless to say, I was a bit disappointed that the last two DT albums (aside from the expect "The Shattered Fortress" had epics without movements! Tracks like "A Nightmare To Remember", "The Best Of Times", "The Count Of Tuscany", "Bridges In The Sky" and "Breaking All Illusions" could have had named/marked movements, but I guess they didn't want them. Maybe it's a new direction for the band - no more "proggy-styled" multi-movement songs? Let's hope not!

Well, What Would Rush Do? by their twelfth album, they were beyond epics. I'm okay with them dropping the format if they want, just as long as they keep making great music, which they certainly will. :)
Perhaps you should ask bosk to reverse the "e" and "a" in the second half of your user name.

Yes, I am content with a decreased flow of long epics, but there always need to be two or three songs per album in the 11-14 range. And those can have movements! :squee:
