Absolutely.

When Six Degrees came out, I had never heard Muse. But I heard Tool, and I was hearing it on track four for sure.

Yeah Tool's always been for The Great Debate and the bass in Home. Muse has always been Never Enough and parts of Panic Attack. But different people can hear and interpret different things.

Well this and Panic Attack and Prophets of War just aren't 'good'. The Great Debate however is a top 10 track, so I don't give a damn if they sound like Tool (which I've always found a weird comparison by the way).

Well, that's completely fair. If you don't like a song, you don't like a song. I'm sure there are songs that don't sound like Muse that you dislike, too.

You're right. Panic Attack isn't good, it's "great"!.

Aside from 2 seconds of falsetto, I don't really hear Muse in there either.

I don't like it when people classify Six Degrees as a single song... Yes, it's a suite, but the movements are all way too unique to me to be counted as one song. And in all honesty, if you listen to it from beginning to end, not all of the transitions are very smooth. I think it has too many ups and downs within itself to be judged as a whole.

Few would guess it's a song if not told. It's just that Portnoy called it a song so that's how people label it. It's an argument that gets nowhere yet keeps coming back.
