This really sucks. I always admired him because he was a buff dude who could actually act, and wasn't just in films becasue he was the biggest guy they could find. Sure he got a lot of the roles he was in because that was the case, but when people saw that he could actually act his career really took off. Rest in peace, big guy.

He was hilarious in The Slammin' Salmon. I've heard many folks who've waited tables giving props to Waiting for doing a good job of balancing hilarity with a fairly accurate depiction of what the job is really like. TSS stomps the shit out of Waiting and its sequel (ugh) and Duncan is a big part of the reason why.

Great in the Green Mile and had a small role in Sin City. Both movies I really enjoy.

This seriously sucks
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

"WHATEVER, MOTHERFUCKER!"  :lol

Such a great movie, and Mr. Duncan was one of my favorite actors ever. The movie world will never be the same without him.

Didn't know he was having heart problems. At some point I saw Armageddon, but I have since tried to block it from my memory, so the ony thing I've seen with him in it is The Green Mile. Which is good enough for him to get a farewell nod for me. There are so many things that had to work in that film for it to work as a whole, and the right John Coffey was a big one of them. And he nailed it. If you watch the bonus features on the DVD, he talks about how excited he was to get the part. You can see the joy in his eyes just thinking about it.

It's not surprising that he died the way he did. Look at the guy's size. His heart must have been working double time his whole life. It's not like he was in shitty shape either. I remember reading an article about him a few years ago. It was talking about how insane and bizarre his exercise routine was. He would strap truck tires to his back and run sprints or hold them over his head while he run up huge hills. He is certainly a guy that I would have never wanted to fuck with. He was a freaking beast. Despite all that he always seemed like such a gentle giant when you saw him off of a movie or TV show set. He also gets a lot of respect points from me for being an actor that never really fucked up or did anything to get blasted in the tabloids or by the media.

Fun fact.

I read somewhere that for many of the shots used in the Green Mile that they had him stand on a slightly elevated block when the camera was at certain angles. It made him look even larger.
