Barring dying alone and other emotional fears, I must go with:

Deep Water
Black Water
Engine failures while taking off (thanks to this horrible photo)

- Being a disappointment
- Talking to people which aren't my friends already (and sometimes even my friends)
- Being unprepared (I leave the house with an umbrella when it's 40 degrees outside, bring my phone charger to friends' houses in case my battery's in danger of running out, double-check eeeverything and similar)
- Fire (I can't light a match, for example)

Sighhh... I know how you feel. I used to be very sociable, but I got bullied in elementary school and became shy. Now I try to get rid of shyness, but it isn't very easy.

And back to the topic: unstable high places. I'm not afraid of being in a high building, but for example I'm always extra careful with ladders.

My greatest fear is something happening to my wife and daughter and having to go on without them. I think I would find a way to check out.

Sorry for the quote pyramid, but I have semi-recurring dreams where I'm chewing gum (which I hardly EVER do) or I'm talking to someone and my teeth just... shatter.  It's creepy as hell.

Being serious for a moment, my greatest fear is that my mother or my wife will outlive me.

I have HepC and a pretty shitty prognosis (not fishing for sympathy here, I've known this for about a decade and it is what it is).

All I really want out of life is to live long enough to support my mother until she's gone and to not leave her or my wife high and dry.  Luckily, considering my health circumstances, I've got a killer life insurance policy from my job (twice my annual income in a lump sum if/when I die) and my medical prognosis says I have a good 15 to 20 years left - if I take care of myself (which I am doing) and that should be enough to outlast my mother.....I hate to even look at it that way, but I just want her to have a comfortable life in her golden years......I put her through hell until about 15 years ago, so I've got a lot of making up to do.

Anyway, that's my greatest fear - dying before my mother and/or my wife.

Talking on the phone

As demonstrated today: I HATE talking on the phone. HATE. HATE. HATE.

I'm not a big fan of the phone either. Lots of awkward pauses and people talking over/interrupting each other awkwardly. I'm more of a email, texting guy.

Not having somewhere to live or being able to support myself, having to rely on others to get by.

and this freaked me out big time when I was still going to Film school, especially when I saw all my friends graduating and not being able to find jobs. It is a terrifying feeling.

I would 100% absolutely rather go deaf than blind.

Just think of all the things you couldn't do if you couldn't see.

Versus : can't hear music any more. That's it.

I could easily live without music. You could still PLAY guitar and drums. You just wouldnt need earplugs anymore :D

Not being able to see would require help to do virtually everything. It would be awful.

Plus i'm really claustrophobic so there's that as well.

On the flip side, it's not really just no music, but no nothing.  I can't read lips and it would take me forever to learn sign language if ever, but blind I could still hear people, nature, and all of the wonderful things in life.  And I could become Dare Devil  :xbones

No thanks.

I am more irritated on a daily basis by un-necessary noise and sounds that I could happily go deaf.

Imagine sitting by the river on a hot sunny day and not being able to hear the screaming baby 10 m away  :lol

I'm really claustrophobic so not being able to see anything ever again would be horrible for me.

I always had this dumb fear that I would be kidnapped when also having a really bad cold.

The kidnappers would cover my mouth with duct tape, but I couldn't breath through my nose so I slowly suffocate and they would think I was just resisting, when I was really dying.

Breaking a guitar string onstage

Happened to me a couple times. As long as it's either E string, you're in way better shape than if it's any of the middle strings. It's funny though since it happened to me in the middle of covering Local H's Bound For the Floor and, as simple as that song is, it took me almost a whole minute to figure out how to seemlessly make it through the only two riffs in that song without the low E. Probably since my mind was split between playing the song and transposing mentally at the same time.
