Favorite DT *moment* - Heavy Riffs Round 1 CLOSED
« on: August 23, 2012, 09:41:11 PM »
Ok, now it's time for some fun.  The :letam: :2metal: :metal riffs.

Top two move on to the Finals.  There will be a consolation round for the 3rd and 4th place finishers in all categories.  Do not vote based on what you feel to be the *heaviest* riff, but which of the below is your (least) *favorite* heavy riff.  Remember, I took the Top 10 from 2009, and added what was missing from BCSL and ADTOE.

   When   Song
1  1:26   A Change of Seasons
2  1:44   Home
3  1:44   The Glass Prison
4  5:52   The Glass Prison
5  1:15   As I Am
6  6:31   This Dying Soul
7  10:02  In the Name of God
8  1:02   The Root of All Evil
9  7:34   The Dark Eternal Night
10 5:48   The Dark Eternal Night
11 1:43   A Nightmare to Remember
12 1:52   The Shattered Fortress
13 5:22   The Shattered Fortress
14 3:55   The Count of Tuscany
15 1:40   Lost Not Forgotten
16 0:45   Outcry
17 1:37   Bridges in the Sky
18 4:32   Bridges in the Sky

Vote for your LEAST favorite.  You have 48 hours

10 5:48   The Dark Eternal Night

Isn't 4 the same as 6? And YtseJamittaja is right, those BITS options are also the same riff.
Anyway, my vote goes to 16.

Why is TDEN's intro not here? Instead we get a mediocre riff in the middle of the song and that awesome riff at the end. The intro is awesome, where is it? :(

Same thing for some Awake riffs; Caught in a Web, Lie?

That said, if Home doesn't win this or get near the top, I'm gonna fuck my shit up. And stuff. This is going to be a great poll nonetheless :)

My vote goes to 14. I've never really been a fan of the song and that riff is not much special compared to the other riffs listed.

Hey dude slow the fuck down so we can finish together at the same time.

Regarding BITS... I see how they are pretty similar.  I guess the ending part of the 2nd one with the wicked bass line is what separates it for me.  I may decide to combine them though.

Regarding TGP (4) and TDS (6) ... yeah, people thought that last time around.  The scratchy JP parts in TGP, combined with the stronger drumming parts of TDS make them different for me.

Regarding the opening TDEN riff ... it finished 18th last time around.  Lie intro was 19th.  Never included anything from Caught In A Web.

10 easily. Where's The Mirror?

THIS!  The Mirror is the #2 heavy DT riff of all time.   #1 is the 5:52 mark of TGP.

My least favorite from these is In The Name of God.

Than the pride that divides when a colorful rag is unfurled." - Neil Peart
