Wear a watch?
« on: August 08, 2012, 05:03:41 PM »
I'm curious to see how many people wear one.

I've been going watchless for a while, but I'm getting in the habit of wearing one again. I feel naked somewhat without one. They're so useful.

I am watchless.  I use my cell phone for the time.

Watchless.  Jewelry is a safety hazard in the lab.

Wait really? What are the potential lab disasters that a wristwatch can bring about?

Absolutely. I couldn't function without it. I need to have it on at all times, or else I feel really weird.

I don't actually use it, though. I check the time on my phone.

Make sense?

Nope.

If you spill something on you, a watch will basically hold the chemical against your skin.  Same goes for rings.  Also, you've created an extra ridge to catch on something.  It's not an "OMG IT'S GOING TO KILL YOU" hazard, but it's doing all the little things that make a lab safe.

I wore a watch all through highschool and most of Jr. High. Watch tan lines on a wrist are sexy (lol not). I stopped for a while and started again when I started again recently
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

Since my watch doesn't have numbers or dashes, I bought it mostly for style instead of keeping time. After wearing it for a few weeks though, I've gotten used to it and can guess the time fairly accurately.

I wear a watch 24/7, the only time I'll take it off is in the machine shop.

I wear mine, except when I'm disposing of the bodies, because sometimes blood and other things can get into the little nooks and crannies.

I do. For a while, I even wore two. When people asked, I was able to 'check the time twice as fast'.

I used to be obsessive over wearing a watch unless I was sleeping or bathing, but lately, I only wear watches out in public. As there are actually jobs that frown upon having a cell phone on your person, you can't completely get rid of one.

My watch recently broke.  I'm shopping for a new one.  So, yes, but technically no at the moment.

I wear my watch when I go out. I don't see the point of wearing one all the time when there are clocks all over my house.

Now back in the day, I was like the watch master. I'm kind of OCD about being on time,

But then I got a cell phone and haven't worn a watch in 7 years.

Cell phones *are* the 21st Century "pocket watch"...we've come full circle, and rendered the wrist watch obsolete.

Funnily enough, I've had several people ask me for the time on account of their cellphone being dead.

I don't wear a watch, but should for my work.  It seems a bit unprofessional to pull out a cell phone to check the time.

Watches are the only thing on my body I'll spend good money on. I have 5 nice watches I rotate regularly. This is the one I like most out of my collection, I love having to wind it. It auto winds itself and will hold for about 35 hours laying still.

Yep. I have one for work and one for everyday wear. I need to wear one, it feels weird without it. I'm with Chino too, it's the only thing on my body that I'll spend money on.

Here's the one I wear everyday

Hated them with a passion, and now I have a cellphone. I think my last watch I got at Catholic confirmation.
