Just listened to it for the first time, and I really enjoyed it. "Last Man Standing" and "Reaching Out" stood out the most on the first listen. Can't wait to get into this album more.  :hat

Couldn't get into it the first listen, but second listen yielded more.  Next stop, fanboy love.

I find that with most Pineapple Thief albums.  The more I play them, the more I love them.

New album is really good! Finally got my copy in the mail yesterday from Burning Shed. I still have yet to listen to the acoustic tracks. :blush

OK, with a lul in new albums I'm looking forward to, I think it is about time I give these guys a shot.  Pick one album...where do I start?  And keep it to one album, I'm only buying one to start.

Reaching Out has to be in my top three songs I've found this year... it gets so fucking dark. The mid section gives me chills. And the lyrics are applicable  to my recent life.

"You look like I've ripped out all that's left
I know those eyes
They're telling me we're dead"
Every story needs to have an ending, we might as well give up all this pretending and clear the air...

I haven't had the chance to listen to the new album. Is it good? Does it follow the same line as the last?

Just listened to that song. As soon as I get home I'm playing this album.

The new album is pretty good. Would say it's on par with the last album, though I think the band's best albums are Little Man and What We Have Sown.

It's a return to the same general style of some of the pre-SHIM albums, particularly Tightly Unwound and Variations on a Dream.  Since the songs aren't as memorable as on those albums, the word that comes to mind is "derivative."

Yeah, parts of the new album are fantastic. It doesn't feel that much a departure of style compared to Something Here tbh, really similar in parts. The last track (Reaching Out) is without a double my favourite PThief song. The feels around 8 minute are just.... mindblowing, stop everything you're doing, ride the tingles type feels.

Love the new album and your right NC that it soesn't veer to far form SHIM.  Man I wish they'd come to the States.

I got Variations on A Dream with the 8Days bonus disc kscope reissue, and Someone Here Is Missing. VoAD is great, nice and mellow, the style i am into at the moment.

Sunday November 3rd is one of my favourite songs by The Pineapple Thief 'and I worry, I worry too much... I can't bear it, no-one can bear this much'

And Remember Us is incredible... so underrated. I can barely handle listening to it as it reminds me of a period of my life in which I was so happy and settled, and hearing it takes me back there to my old room, living with the people I did, the things that happened etc. But I perservere because I never want this song to leave my life.

The final tracks from Variations, Tightly Unwound and All the Wars are all utterly incredible. I could put those three songs on repeat and curl up and listen to them all day long. I forget sometimes how much I absolutely adore this band.

Can't wait to see them in May. Been getting massively into 'Little Man' album; Snowdrops and especially We Love You are doing it for me so much. Especially the latter... I love the long, intense, meandering tracks these guys write.

I've seen people have different favorites, but Little Man is their best IMO. Some awesome songs on it, and possibly their biggest "hit"; "Snowdrops" which is almost like their Trains.

Haha I came in here to ask which album to get next and saw this. I was thinking about going with Little Man, and your quote and others made my decision quite easy and awesome because the title drew me in. I had a little thought in my mind saying this' ll sound good.

Keep forgetting how much I LOVE these guys.    I've only heard Tightly Unwound, but I was obsessed with it for awhile.   I'm listening to Variations on a Dream online right now, and quickly drawing the conclusion that these guys are pretty amazing.

And hey!  NEW ALBUM DROPS SEP 15th!!!!   :hat

I've fallen out of love with them a bit this last year or so, but they do have some really good albums. The last one didn't click that much for me, but it was a solid release. Little Man and What We Have Sown are my favorites.

I actually checked it out last year but didn't care for it much. I think it's a combination of fatigue on both Katatonia and The Pineapple Thief though. I listened to the album once and it was very okay-ish for the most part, but nothing too exciting or interesting. I feel bad saying that because I do like them both, I just haven't been too blown away by them lately.

With the electronica added it seemed fresh to me but I do admit you have to be in the right mood to listen to that album.

Even though I already have Tightly Unwound....I was thinking about picking up Abducting the Unicorn and just going forward from there.

Can I get some album rankings from those more familiar with their catalog?
