It's incredible that such an objectively unintelligent person could actually become a judge.

A little light hearted  political satire for you. Enjoy!

Bill O'Reilly (Baba O'Riley)

Out here in the fields
On Fox for my meals
I make my living beating liberals

I don't need to fight
I know I'm right
Caution your in the no spin zone
yeah,yeah,yeah,yeah,yeah

Don't reply
Don't even try
It's only my own way, yeah!

Romney, take my hand
We'll travel cross the land
Put out the fire
And lets get rid of Obama.

The exodus is here
The wounded ones are near
Let's get together
But my book, its bolder.

Liberal wasteland
It's only liberal wasteland.
liberal wasteland
Oh, yeah
Its only liberal wasteland
They're all wasted!

Lets the beatings ensue!

Media politics is all spin on both sides.
Hope you found some humor in my rewrite.

Awesome, so apparently now several religious right Republicans are defending Akin and scolding the GOP for them trying to throw Akin under the bus. Love it, this is a soap opera unfolding. If the Ron Paul supports can raise an appropriate stink at the RNC about having been screwed over by the GOP too with their delegates, it's the perfect storm. Or rather, perfect hurricane. EDIT: Oh, and of course the Texas judge on top of that. Release the penguins!

Add to this mess, Libertarian Party in Washington State has filed a lawsuit claiming that (rightfully so) Mitt Romney is not eligible to be on the ballot in the State, because of some mess a few years back in the State that Mitt Romney was not involved in. If a judge of course doesn't find a way to accomodate Romney, he'll have to be a write-in candidate over there.

You'd think enormous public backlash over a comment demonstrating a politicians ignorance and veiled sexism would be enough to deter anyone from supporting the guy even if they secretly believed his views.

I think it's a sign of how the religious right feels neglected in this election cycle. Romney has been trying to make this election all about the economy and budget, and now that Akin speaks out their beliefs and gets clobbered by his own party fellows, they seize the opportunity to reassert themselves, saying "don't piss us off". Romney of course knows that appeasing those people will mean losing moderates.

So gawker has managed to get their hands on a load of Bain Capital's financial documents, and is asking the user base to sift through them to see what’s in them. No idea if there'll be anything dodgy in them but it might be interesting to see what they get up to, legal or no.

Well, I don't think Romney had any chance of actually winning Washington anyways, so seeing as how we still have the horribly archaic electoral college, this is more theatrics.

It's not quite theatrics.  According to Washington state law, the state Republican party fucked themselves on this one, and Romney really shouldn't appear on the ballot as the Republican nominee.

Also, Obama doesn't actually have any daughters.  Sasha and Malia are two Chicago orphans he's renting.

Well, people believe that 9/11 was an inside job. Which, to me, is a far more far fetched idea than Obama not being an American citizen. But even I think that the birther movement is nuts.

Why, because we have opposing views?  I have never commented on Obama's birth certificate? There are plenty of legit things to rip Obama on without needing any conspiracy theories.

I just meant it won't change the election. If this was happening in, say, Florida, it would be far more interesting.

Ya, there are, which is why I don't get why the right attack Obama for a bunch of fake, side and non issues.

Speaking of the birthers, isn't it actually untrue that you need to be born in the U.S. or territories to run for candidacy? From what I've heard, the requirement is actually to have a parent or two that was an American citizen at the time of birth.

You can be born abroad and still be president, but both your parents have to be American citizens.  (Or you can be a citizen at the time the Constitution was adopted.  That was 1789, so that loophole doesn't apply much anymore, but then again, isn't the new Republican abortion plank that life begins 230 years before conception?)

The 2001 Child Citizenship Act says that if you're born abroad to at least one U.S. Citizen, you gain citizenship upon returning to the US, but only if they're a permanent resident in the US.  For example, a child born to one U.S. Citizen who permanently lives in another country would have to be naturalized to be a U.S. Citizen.

Of course, none of this applies to Obama because he was born way beforehand.

^Actually, none of this applies to Obama because there are stricter regulations on becoming president than simply being a citizen.  You have to be a native-born US citizen (or born to two US citizens abroad); you can't be naturalized.

AFAIK, the CCA says that you would be a natural born citizen, not naturalized.  Besides that, you can be a natural born citizen if born to only one citizen abroad.  There are other criteria that must be met, such as how long the parent lived in the US.
