So you got that from Facebook... Is this one of your friends? Or just a minor acquaintance?
Oh seneca, how you've warmed my heart this evening.

And here's a status from her dad:

"Pray for me today, I will be going back into surgery, this time to repair the incision from my Colon Surgery because it has herniated. I know the Lord is with me but appreciate you all lifting me up. In His Name"

It's hard to tell if he thinks praying will have an effect or not.

I was afraid to ask, because I thought you might be friends and take it the wrong way...

But is she?

That's easy to believe. There is a time and place to wear your beliefs on your sleeve. This is definitely a time for her to be spreading her beliefs around since she's on a mission to spread the word of God. If I were you, I'd turn her feed off for awhile so you don't see it. It can get brutal to see people pushing their beliefs on FB and especially when you don't agree.

I'm a former Christian myself so even while I'll think a statement is ridiculous, I understand the perspective because I've been there. Posting FB statuses on forums and seeing people rage is always fun.

I used to pray a lot--"please do this," "please do that." Mostly I asked not to run out of drugs or run out of money for drugs. When I started going to Narcotics Anonymous meetings, I learned that prayer wasn't about that. Like others have said, prayer is communication with a higher power. For example, people in 12-step programs pray "only for knowledge of His will for us and the ability to carry that out."
Iam pridem, ex quo suffragia nulli vendimus, effudit curas; nam qui dabat olim imperium, fasces, legiones, omnia, nunc se continet atque duas tantum res anxius optat, panem et circenses.
