He's actually an imaginary concept illustrated by a bunch of printed words in a book.

For the sake of your poll, I'm going with Wilder, because there's no way in hell that Willy Wonka looks like MJ.

While I LOVE Gene Wilder as Wonka, I picked Johnny Depp as I believe that Roald Dahl would have liked how Depp portrayed his character better.
I don’t know what to put here anymore

Doesn't matter to me who the original author would have liked, Gene Wilder owned that role while Johnny Depp was just....meh.

Depp did a marvelous job, but Wilder was Amazing, and I watched his version as a child to many times to remember.

Gene Wilder scares me, especially as Willy Wonka. That character always made me feel uncomfortable as a child.

Not just the boat ride...throughout the entire film, he seems to be teetering on the edge of insanity. He comes across as a ticking time bomb that could explode at any moment.

Wilder, easily.

He perfectly embodied whimsy and rage, carefree soul and control freak, benevolent father figure and harsh disciplinarian.
Winger would be better!

If you look at the results of this poll it would appear Willy Wonka has a very large penis, and a small right nut.
