Threshold have premiered their lyric video for new track Watchtower On The Moon.

It's taken from their tenth album, For The Journey, set for launch on September 22 via Nuclear Blast.

Keyboardist Richard West says of the follow-up to 2012's March Of Progress: "It's one of our strongest albums, and one of the most enjoyable to make. I've probably heard it a thousand times during the recording process – but now it's over I still can't stop listening to it."

For The Journey is available for pre-order now.

Recently started listening to March of Progress A LOT (for some reason, I never really fully checked it out, despite loving Damian Wilson vocals  and always liking Threshold tunes). But that album is really, really good. Immediately bought a physical copy. Looking forward to the new one.

So, how are these guys live? I am considering to attend a concert of theirs in a few months.

I'm really feeling that there needs to be some variety.

^ I agree.  I enjoyed it, but it wasn't anything overly impressive.  MoP did have a good amount of variety, so I'm optimistic that these are just two 'single-worthy' releases that NB chose to put out.

Sounded like Threshold by numbers.  I'm hoping jingle is right about choosing 'single-worthy' songs.

Nice! Can't wait to listen to it.

Edit: Just gave it my first listen. It's amazing! Not sure yet how it stack up against MoP but it's definitely one of my favorite albums of the year. The Box is a masterpiece :hefdaddy

Cool, that's a pretty big yardstick to compare to.  MoP is my 2nd fave album of theirs.

I haven't gotten around to it, but it sounds like the two singles were not the strong points of the album.  Good assumption or not?

Just had a listen.  Pretty good, and I'm sure will improve with subsequent listens.  Though I'm raging because my stupid iTunes pre-order now says available November 18th!!!  WTF?!?!?

Enjoying the album very much. I did notice one very cool thing (to me at least). The soundbite in track 3, The Box, the spoken word piece about the machine, is from Mario Savio's famous speech during the 60's Free Speech movement at the steps of Sproul Plaza in UC Berkeley. Been there a billion times, even smoked a joint in honor of it when I was in college on the exact spot. :RJ:

After one listen, I'd say it's a very good album! I'm not sure it's quite as good as March of Progress (which itself isn't as good as Hypothetical) but it's definitely up there with the best.

I've got the album pre-ordered so I don't feel too guilty about recording the audio stream so I can listen to it in my car.

I've only listened once, but liked what I heard.  Way too early to judge it, but I think it will be up there among their best.

Could have sworn I heard some 7-string in a few places, either that or Karl is using an alternate tuning on a 6 string (drop-D maybe?)

Some of the chugging is even more badass than usual  :metal

Looking forward to getting the disc.  :corn

Awesome album somewhat darker than MOP and not as instant, but well up there.

Autumn Red and Siren Sky the frontrunners!

After 1 listen of this album, it sounds good.  Nice and dark with some really nice hints of older style Threshold in there in some places.

I'm only just now getting to have a good listen to For The Journey and I think it's really good.   I've been into Threshold since the very beginning and found the Mac albums getting quite samey (although Dead Reckoning broke that a bit) ,but the last two with Wilson have been really good and up there with their best......which includes the great Psychedelicatessen  with Glynn Morgan.  ;)

I stumbled across some live vids of Threshold with Mac - looked like an official release. They were older songs I didn't know but very good. That bloke could sing. I find DW a bit harder to listen to. Not that he doesn't have a great voice, I just find it a bit camp.

Holy cow. I just did the same thing, stumbled across some Mac-era vids. This is right up my alley, I love his voice and delivery so much. I'm listening to critical mass right now and loving it. It has a fates warning feel to me for some reason. Are all the Mac-era albums this good? I am in awe how much I am loving this.  I can't wait to listen to the other albums.

I'm still waiting for my copy of the new album, but I would be very surprised if it topped Hypothetical, which is their masterpiece, and it happens to be a Mac album.  I would posit that my second favorite Threshold album is also a Mac album, Subsurface.  Those albums had their best songwriting.

I can't stop listening to Critical Mass.  I'm hooked.  I can't believe I never found this album before.  It's right up my alley.  I'll try Hypothetical next, because that seems to be the other Mac-era album that people really love.
