I guess my problem is that Damian sings in the typical prog singer style that I really don't appreciate. LaBrie is one of the few who I find fine, but I always prefer singers from bands like Riverside/Porcupine Tree/Opeth/Pain of Salvation. It doesn't even matter that it's high, I frigging love Coheed and Cambria, but the typical prog and power metal singers are just not my taste at all.

(related but off-topic: I would be mightily pissed off that Roy Khan left Kamelot since as they are the only power metal band with a non-typical singer, except that their last album was utterly terrible so no loss. The new guy is cool, but I have no interest in any new material with him.)

I know what you mean. There's something about the vocals that I'm not loving. Damian is a great singer- there's just something "overdramatic" about the delivery? Not sure that's it exactly. It's not a deal-breaker and the songs are excellent.

I get what you mean, and I agree 100%. I'm not the biggest listener of the more traditional Progressive Metal anymore (bands like DT, Symphony X, Threshold etc), but Threshold before with the previous singer was not that bad, and I quite enjoyed it actually. This singer singer doesn't do anything for me. It's not that he's bad, but he just sounds very "typical" for the genre, and I didn't really care for his vocals on the first albums, and it doesn't really change here.

Europeans... bite me (envy)
North Americans ... bite me (generally, music tastes suck - hence all these great bands don't come over here).

le sigh.

Actual part of Europe that gets gigs - bite me...

Slovenia is relatively close (I think it's less than 10 hours?) but I'm not up for making a journey alone, and it would be a bit pricey.

tbh... I prefer the pure artistry of the original video without Damian.  Don't know why, I just do.

I listened to this a bit when it came out but with other albums going on it sort of didn't get the attention it deserved, even though I enjoyed it.  Just getting back into it and man it's killer.  There's still a lot to grow even more on me, but I really like it.

It's such a big album, in length and sound.  You hear so much on each listen, I'm enjoying it more and more each time I listen.  I'm impressed how strong the bonus track is too, stronger than a lot of the normal songs.

Yep, it's a fantastic album and one of the best of 2012. It's my first and only Threshold album, but I'm  planning on picking up their entire catalog some time this year.
