Great interview! The things I found interesting

1) at some point, a concept album will be done again
2) evening withs, acoustic shows, and covers could return
3) Mangini will be in studio writing this time around
4) January is when they want to go into studio again.

Nice interview! And January...so I guess it sounds like they'll bust out DT12 before moving on to their solo stuff.

What do you mean? He said his solo album is like 3/4 written, so it's possible he'll go into the studio in September - November, bang that out, then in January head into the studio with DT and get going on that. LaBrie at least.

Me as well. I mean, look at those videos of them performing EoP material. I don't even enjoy EoP that much (especially comparing it to SI), but I love seeing JLB on stage with Sfogli and Guillory, kicking ass. And I love all the drummers that were present in James' solo projects.

A James solo tour for 2013 would be cool, but seeing as he's been touring with DT nonstop for a couple years straight, I think he's probably a little burnt from touring. :lol

Yea, definitely that time frame for LaBrie. It could be possible that Rudess will do the same since he still has the same amount of time as LaBrie to do something as the solo album. Petrucci has G3 in that time frame, so he may have to wait for his solo work until after the writing and recording is done for DT12. I can see Petrucci working on some solo work before the end of the year and then finishing up by the new DT record is released.

Plus with Rudess, considering that he wants to officially release a classical album that he's ALREADY written, that could save a lot of time for him. And I would much rather prefer a classical album out of Rudess than a rock album. At least right now.

It is vague, but, to me, JLB himself sounded pretty keen to do one very soon.
