Not that we didn't already know this, but listening to the scheduling he lays out, it looks like we are probably going to be slightly beyond a 2-year release cycle for the next album.  Hard to believe this much time has passed already, but ADTOE came out in August 2011.  If the guys are going to be doing NAMM and some misc. solo stuff in the early part of 2013, they won't get into the studio for the next DT album until late winter or early sprint, which means a new album release date probably no earlier than LATE summer 2013.  That's not too far off, but it seems like ages.

Jordan was still working on BC&SL when he did NAMM so who knows... I'm guessing January again for starting up the new record or February.

I think that's good, because, whenever they take a little more time to do something, it turns out gold.

Especially if there's on-tour writing and similar.

I know I'm a spoiled brat when it comes to DT and no sooner has the new album been released than I want another one! ;D But, yeah, a little longer wouldn't be a bad thing if only, as the poster above me has stated, to allow them to write more on-tour stuff.

Was it Jordan or James that actually said January they'd be starting?
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

I'd like for them to recharge as much as they feel is necessary so that they can go into the studio and make a kick ass follow up to ADToE.

James also said that his new album will be released around March and that he might do some "select cities" tour to support it.
Frankly I don't mind if the next album comes later than expected, they did an outstanding job on ADToE and it's tour and it looked like it all happened that way cause they were happy and relaxed during the recording process and the tour planning. I hope they take their time with their solo projects which I'm looking forward to and I hope they don't stress about the new Dream Theater album in the midst of their projects cause nothing good is gonna come out of that.

I'm excited about the classical music idea he talks about in the interview.

But but but. The last one was out in 2010. That's too long for me.  :-[

Haha compare that to my reaction to DT going beyond the two-year cycle  :lol
