Okay, since people were asking, I added this bit of info:

Quote
Q:  How many hidden emoticons are there?
A:  As stated above, I cannot tell you how many there are because (1) that would require me to manually count them, which I do not have time to do, and (2) I add new ones all the time as I find some that seem fun.  EDIT:  As of August 22, 2012, there are approximately 491.

I say approximately because the total list shows 491, but a couple of those are duplicates because there are a couple of emoticons that have more than one different name so that you can get them by typing a couple of different things.  For example:
:blackfloyd:
Code: [Select]
:blackfloyd::bountyhunter:
Code: [Select]
:bountyhunter:
But there aren't many of those.

There are some that just flat out need to be renamed, too, because they're named after people or make reference to people who don't even post here anymore.  For example:

Is the first one supposed to be a cactus with arms and sunglasses?

Yeah.  I guess I'll leave the cactus one, but I changed the second one to :calvin:

That was another one for Veronica.  She posted a lot and was very well liked.  So "cool story, bro" became "cool story, Vro," and she liked Calvin & Hobbs, so...there you go.

You seem pretty obsessed about finding them.  I'd be pretty curious to see which ones you have.

Well, I just copy down what I see, and I'm happy if I find a new one, even though I nearly never use most of them.  :lol

I'll PM you my list, I don't want to spoil it for anyone who is searching themselves. After all, emotes are SRS BZNSS.
