DarkLol's prog metal album..."The Conspiracy Chronicles"
« on: July 01, 2012, 10:22:28 AM »
Hello, guys and gals. As some of you old fogeys (and long time members kekekeke) may recall, some time ago I uploaded a demo of a prog metal band I'm in. Well, right now I'm majoring in Audio Engineering, and I have a studio of my own (I'm still young and I'm still learning, so this was kind of an incredible experience for me).

I'm halfway the recording of an album called "The Conspiracy Chronicles", and I bring you an UNMIXED, unproduced raw track without vocals (yet). It's called Neohuman, and it's the second track on the album. You'll hear lots of drastic volume changes in the track because my earlier statement, UNMIXED  :lol

I hope you enjoy this. I'm the keyboardist, by the way.

Oh, and of course...I'll upload the album for free, so you all guys can have it and check it!

Hey man, there's a bunch of pretty cool ideas in here.  Some of the passages are very  :metal

It could probably do with.....either some vocals (and a melody line) or some lead guitar or synth in a few spots, but still, I really like the composition quite a bit, especially the riff that kicks in right around the 4:30 mark.  That's pretty banging.

The use of mellotrons is pretty nice too.

Guitar solo at around 5:30 is killer too  :tup

I really like the textures you've added with the keys and the lead synth lines are good, the only suggestion I think I'd have as you head into mixing it is turn those keyboards up, bro.

All in all, I think you've got something with a ton of potential here.  Well done.   :hat

Thank you, good people of the earth  :heart

Alright, the vocals have been recorded and I'm in the process of mixing the whole thing. This is the same song but now with a sharper sound (I think), vocals and neat stuff. Hope you enjoy it.  :D (There are still lots of things that need to be done, I think I'll have the whole thing ready in two weeks time.)

I can upload another song for you guys tomorrow, if you wish so  :heart

Darklol, I am liking what I am hearing. When I have a job, if there are any physical copies, I am buying the hell out of it.
This is as exciting as superluminal neutrinos. The sexy thing is that this actually exists :D

What's the correct track order?

Amazing! Thank you very much!! I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating it.

What's the correct track order?

The track order is as follows:

1) Overture
2) Neohuman
3) Though Heaven
4) Lifestream
5) A Higher State of Mind
6) The Conspiracy
7) Spheres
8) The Great Elector
9) The Memory Delusion

I'm the keyboardist for the band/I recorded and mixed the whole thing.

Dude... Just finished listening.  Very nice.  I really liked the musicianship here - keyboards were probably my favorite.  In all honesty though, didn't care for the vocals (boy, I sure hope you're not the vocalist).  The music was good enough to bring me back for more listens though, so maybe the vocals will click.  I couldn't stand Redemption for a long time because of Adler's vocals, then one day, it just clicked.  Hope the same happens here.

The Conspiracy was fantastic!

This will get more plays from me.

I'm the keyboardist, actually!  :D Thank you very much! I'm really eager to see how this music ages and the impact that repeated listens will have upon listeners.

Amazing. Thanks.

I'll agree with jingle, I really enjoyed the music quite a bit, great job.  And the mix is really good as well.  But the vocalist is a bit of a distraction; he's definitely your weak link.

Still, great job!  :tup

Great, hef. I was in charge of the mixing as well, so it's bit of a double compliment  :D

I'm definitely checking the vocalist stuff, because that's been the general consensus (which I kind of agree with). Glad you guys enjoyed it, though!

Well, here's another guy stroking this album's shaft, but I can't help. I really like the songwriting of the album, and the keyboards are probably the standout (and no, I don't say that 'cause I'm talking to the keyboardist). I wish you the best of luck with this album (though I hope that it doesn't become too successful to quickly, so that I can still use it in roulettes :p).

Thirding the general consensus. Great music, but the vocalist is bringing you guys down. I'm not sure if it's him, or the melodies he's singing, or the way he's trying to squeeze as many words as possible in... but yeah, I will ditto jingleboy and hef.
