Is there a reason for?

Not really a suggestion, but more of a question, and I thought this would be the best place to put it.
Is the are reason why some of the smileys have the colon only at the beginning and others at both ends of the word?

It's probably just a matter of origin. I think a lot of the ones that have carried over from the original forum only use the colon at the start, but newer ones seem to use the convention of colon start and finish, so we've ended up with a bit of a mish-mash of both. That would be my guess, anyway.

Pretty much, yes.  And it would be a severe hassle to go back and change them all to make them consistent.

Especially since a lot of the best ones aren't on the visible list, so we have to rely on memory. I don't think people care about consistency, they just care about remembering them, and changing them at this point would just be a nuisance to people.

I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

I'd really like to see this ( ) get its own DTF emote. The current vomitting emote ( :puke: ) is somewhat funny but it kinda loses its effect because it takes longer than almost all the other emotes to deliver its intent.

The other vomitting emote is hilarious. I think it's the combo of the gratuitous flow and the fact that it looks to be happily smiling throughout which is just plain silly. Out of fear of forgetting where I can find other members' posts where they used it (so I can copy/paste), I've had to let it move into my sig for the time being which comes off quite confusingly.

Yes, the combination of perpetual vomit plus the blank stare of cluelessness as to the viscous fluid churning outwards makes it a much better emoticon.
The current one implies that you can actually hold back the vomit for some short period of time, whereas the other one implies ENDLESS RAGING PUKE IN YOUR DIRECTION BLUGHGHHGHGHGHHG
