Hello everyone. Here's a clip of my brother playing bass along to the lead-off track on our album. Hope you enjoy! Any critique/feedback is welcome.

The buildup was interesting for about 2 minutes but once we got nearly 4 minutes in and the bass was still beating that hammer-on/pull-off combo into the ground it got torturously repetitive. It seems like they were striving to make something complex yet failed to take a step back and listen to the output and ask themselves "is the repetition cancelling out our efforts to make this complex?" I like how he seems to have a 3/4 thing rhythmically contrasting what's going on with the other instruments during the part I was griping about as it gives it a cool awkwardness that definitely pleases my prog side but I just wish that hammer-on/pull-off thing wasn't so driven into the ground. His solo part was nice though and I dug the tone.

black_floyd, thank you for your insight. Yeah, the track does have a hefty amount of repetition in it. Those parts you're referring to could be trimmed up, I do agree. We wrote our tracks with vocals vaguely in mind (which might explain some of the repetition), being that we are looking for a singer, but this track should probably be about 5:00min rather than 7:00. Anyway, I'm real glad you dug the tone and the solo section.

Thanks man!
