Just uploaded an instrumental cover of "Roller Coaster" by blink-182, of whom I've been a fan since 2000. Hope you like (or laugh at) it :P

Hi guys,

What else to do on a Friday evening when you have no gig but play a favourite of mine, I Wish - Stevie Wonder! This is the first bass cover I've recorded so constructive criticism is very welcome in terms of performance, audio/mix, video etc.

Thanks!

I just found this thread, nice covers! Here's a video of me and my wife playing the flute part of the intro of Octavarium. We have meaning to play this for some time and we finally found some time to play it.

Ok.  I'll play.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8cN9skvK8o&sns=em

Assuming the link works, this is a video made nearly 30 years ago as part of a "record production" class I was taking at community college.  The basic format of the class is that local bands/artists would come into our class for three consecutive weeks (three hours per class session).  The first day we recorded basic tracks.  The second day we recorded vocals and overdubs.  The third week we did the mixing.  It was all done on a 24-track board and recorded on 2-inch tape.

Toward the end of the semester, the instructor got the idea to have some of the students in the class record a cover of a song and make it sound as close to the original as possible.  Although most of the musicians in the class played metal, we started out with a Smokey Robinson song (I don't remember which one).  The drummer had problems with not rushing the beat, so we suggested doing a song that we were all comfortable with and picked The Trooper.  After doing the audio recording, we went to the instructor's studio to record this video.  The video is REALLY 80s and very cheesy.  It's also poorly synched, but I always get a kick out of watching it, and I've always been really happy with the audio recording (although it really doesn't sound much like the original).

By the way, I'm the bass player (who also got the audio production credit).  And NO, I did not always use that much Aqua Net!

Wow, not bad!  :tup

Everyone was tight, including the singer, who is excellent.  Nice job on the dual leads, bass and drums locked in.  Sound quality is good, too, especially for 30 years ago.

Thanks!  The funny thing is that the singer was a bit of an afterthought.  He wasn't a metal guy, and none of the rest of us really knew someone who could do it, but Jim had done sort of a jazz fusion song earlier in the semester, and I remembered liking his voice, so we asked him.  I think there's one place where he muffed a line and we didn't fix it, but I was otherwise happy with his performance (notwithstanding the hospital scrubs he wore for the video...LOL!).

With that opening wail, I wasn't sure what to expect.  Effects were a little thick on the voice there, but he was clearly hitting the notes naturally, and shit like Auto-tune didn't exist back then anyway.

I made a cover of Wither by DT :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bxx_blp6J8&lc=

Video was kind of quickly put together and the video quality is jank until I'm able to use a real camera, but I'm fairly happy with the cover itself and the audio quality.

I’m on bass and drums for this. Not the most perfect drum performance (truth be told I wasn’t that comfortable on the drum pad) but anytime I get to jam with my friends Steve and John is a good time.

Not me, but my 14 year old and her high school marching band from this past weekend.

https://youtu.be/rpdWvGZdqb0

They were supposed to be competing in the Western Band Association championships, but they got cancelled because of the California fires and bad air quality.  Extremely disappointing for the kids who had been working up to this for months, but 13 schools came together and performed exhibitions for each other and parents.  If I do say so myself, I think was their best performance of the season.

Me playing a split screen cover of Regression. I used a ukulele and my ipad, the only instruments I can carry with me, since I have to move for a few months to a different city.
