Awesome! Not a big fan of Lukather's solo though.

I think it will be a good live song. Some tasty bass lines by David Hungate.

2014-04-28 BUDOKAN - Stop Loving You + Keith Calock Drums Solo + Hold The Line

Good stuff! Keith plays with such great feel and groove, love it! Have to say after hearing the new song + this I get alot of Jeff vibes from him both in terms of groove and straight beat. I do know though that Steve Porcaro have mentioned that the first time they played with Shannon Forrest who substitutes for KC during the upcoming tour was like playing with Jeff all over again. That's kind of a funny comment given that KC have official joined the band. Both drummers are great though so there's nothing to really say.

Yea can't wait! Looked the YES rumor up and yea I wouldn't be surprised if that's not 99% confirmed when Paich himself says: "We're gonna be touring with Yes"!  :rollin

I like that - although as a few have commented in the Youtube listing the drumming just doesn't sound like Toto to me.  There's some good stuff in there but the verses are way too basic.

Basic drum wise?

I've seen that drummer with Steely Dan.  basic is not a word I would use with his playing.

I was gonna say, when I think of Toto, or Jeff Porcaro, I think of groove.  Which you could consider basic.  Even though Jeff and Simon could shred drums, they knew when to keep it basic and just groove.

"Basic" possibly wasn't the best word to use and I did point out that there's plenty to like and yes........great drummer.  I just don't get the Toto vibe in the verse and that may be lack of "groove" rather than technique.  It just sounds like something's missing to me.

I'm a big fan of Simon in Toto and so maybe my ears are just having trouble adjusting after all this time.

Porcaro's playing on the Dire Straits album " On Every Street " defines "tasteful".

No I can kinda hear what you're saying there.  I think for me just the fact that the song is just kinda, middle of the road.

This song sounds a bit average. I much preferred the first one they released.

I'm still quite excited for this album. Hopefully there are some harder rockin' songs on there, or something a bit different. The production sounds great, so that already puts it off to a good start.

So glad I got hold of tickets for the summer tour. I have a feeling this may be their final tour. The reason they did the "reunion" in the first place was to support Mike Porcaro.

Got the new album.  So far "Running Out Of Time", "Chinatown" & Great Expectations" stick out.

The new album sounds definitely like Toto, there's like sounds from every previous album on it. Have only listened to it once and it didn't really convince me, but so did the last Lukather solo album and now it's one of my favorites.
Must've been Kwyji sending all the wrong songs.   ;D

Toto & YES Join Together For Late Summer North American Tour

26 Date Tour Gets Underway On August 7th
World-renowned recording artists, YES and Toto, today announced they will join forces this summer for a co-headlining North American tour. Among the world’s most influential, ground-breaking, and respected progressive rock bands, Grammy Award winning YES has sold nearly 40 million albums in a career that has so far spanned more than four decades. YES continues with its tradition of symphonic progressive rock that remains timelessly fresh and innovative.
Since its founding in 1968, YES has created much of rock history’s most important music, including iconic pieces like ‘Roundabout,’ 'Close to the Edge,’ ‘I’ve Seen All Good People,’ “Owner of a Lonely Heart,’ ‘Starship Trooper,’ and countless others. Its albums, including ‘Fragile,’ ‘Close to the Edge,’ ‘Tales from Topographic Oceans,’ and ‘90125,’ have been certified multi-platinum, double-platinum, platinum, and more by the RIAA. YES continues to inspire millions of musicians, fans, and music lovers around the world.
“We’re thrilled to be hitting the road with Toto. Yes have always been big fans of Toto’s music, and we think the fans are going to really enjoy seeing both of us together,” says YES co-founder and bassist, Chris Squire.

YES will be releasing a new live CD/DVD (recorded at the Mesa Arts Center in Mesa, Arizona) entitled Like It Is on July 7th.
Few ensembles in the history of recorded music have individually or collectively had a larger imprint on pop culture than the members of Toto. As individuals, the band members can be heard on an astonishing 5000 albums that together amass a sales history of a half a billion albums. Amongst these recordings, NARAS applauded the performances with more than 200 Grammy nominations.
With over 35 years together and thousands of credits and accolades to their names, Toto remains one of the top selling touring and recording acts in the world. They recently released their first new studio album in ten years – TOTO XIV which debuted last week Top 10 in nine countries around the world. Prior to the tour with YES, Toto are embarking on a European headline arena tour with appearances at key festivals.

"We are so honored to be touring with our musical hero's YES,” remarked founder/guitarist Steve Lukather. “Life changing music for me and the guys and we even have a song on our new record totally inspired by them so it is a lifelong love of their music that has kept us fans to this day. We all stood and waited in line for tix to see Close to the Edge and Topographic.. many many shows as young upcoming musicians/fans in the 70's and were blown away and inspired to be better musicians and composers by Yes' amazing music, musicianship and insanely cool live shows. This is a crazy dream come true for us and we can’t wait to do this tour and to make new friends and solidify old friendships.”
Tickets for most shows go on sale this week. VIP ticketing information to come this afternoon.
