Attempting to learn the whole Deconstruction album on guitar.
So far I've completed Praise the Lowered, Stand, most of Juular, and Poltergeist.

Onto Sumeria...

Am I the only one who thinks that the 2011 Yin-Yang release of Decon+Ghost is one of the best releases by any musician in the history of music?
Definately better than ADTOE aniways.

Ghost was my second-favorite album last year.  Decon, not so much.  Its good but there have been so many 2011 releases (either I was listening to them or I'm discovering them now) that are better, IMO.

Decon is unbeliveably sick.

Its got some amazing parts (Praise the Lowered, Stand, Juular, Masturbator, Deconstruction, Poltergeist), but I don't like Pandemic at all, and the first half of Planet of the Apes has really awkward vocal melodies and it really takes me out of the song.  Sumeria is just eh overall (despite Duplantier's awesomeness).

Compared to the amazing releases last year and the other perfect DTP albums, I just don't find it THAT amazing, though I respect it for all its heavy, melodic, crushing insanity.

Besides the beginning of Planet of the Apes, I fucking love Deconstruction.

Deconstruction is great, but I don't think it's better then Ki or Ghost. (or some of the older albums for that matter)

Decon is pretty good. It has its highlights and lowlights like any other normal album. I'd put it around the upper middle bit of his stuff.

Completely flawless album from start to finish. I can't really see why people don't like the beginning of Planet of the Apes. The riff and the melody behind it is absurdly brilliant, and the vocal line fits it perfectly.

I SAY HAVE IT YOUR WAY
I STAY HEAVY FOR MY GOD

Granted, the second half of the song absolutely blows it away, but still.

Fuck, I need to listen to it again.

Well, Planet of the Apes is the second worst song on the album, so that's probably why. But like that really means anything, because still, the whole thing is pretty damn brilliant.

*Puts on Justin flame shield* Terria, Addicted, Ziltoid, and maybe even Ki are all better, with the first three that I mentioned actually being much better.

Decon is flawless.
Pandemic is amazing. the energy in it is JAWDROPPING. and the composition.... its like frank zappa on steroids. amazing song. one of my favs.
Planet Of The Apes...I disliked the first part of it as well, until i listened to it again and discovered how brilliant it is. another jew dropping song.
And how the hell its possible to not love Sumeria???

*Puts on Justin flame shield* Terria, Addicted, Ziltoid, and maybe even Ki are all better, with the first three that I mentioned actually being much better.
I can see how terria is maybe better... but there is no way Addicted or Ziltoid even touch Deconstruction. Decon is just way superior.
I cant really compare ki with decon because they are totally diffrent worlds... but in terms of what i like more, atm i would say decon.

Deconstruction is great, but I am not fond of Pandemic or Poltergeist, but that shouldn't surprise anyone who knows me since I am not a big fan of crazy fast metal like those songs are.  I suspect the Devin fans who love SYL love those songs.  I can see the appeal for those kinds of metal fans, but they just don't do anything for me.

Addicted is better.  :tup :tup

And you call yourself a man.

So Ian put Ziltoid in the dropbox for me. That album is better than I had ever hoped or imagined.

I'm proud to be able to call myself a man now.

Addicted is the only other album close to beating Deconstruction, but it misses by just a hair.

Ziltoid and Terria are both pretty overrated, but I like Terria more between those two. And, when I say overrated, they're still probably in my top 100 albums ever.

I just like the "big" feeling that comes with a lot of Devin's music and I think the "big" feeling is missing on a lot of Decon. There are moments where it is pure ecstasy but then there are parts where there's just too much shit going on so it loses its "big" feel. That is why I'm looking forward to Epicloud so much.
