The website kind of reminds me of the old interactive websites during the 90s but of course at a whole new level.  Can't wait for this!  :metal

Is the third disc just Dark Matters without the talky bits or are there legit bonus tracks?

I just dont see the point of the 3rd disc.

If they also took out all the vocals and made it a purely instrumental version, then it would be worth it. I often wonder how Deconstruction and Ghost would sound without Devy and friends singing/screaming over his own incredible arrangements.

Ziltoid without Ziltoid just doesnt seem to make sense.

I'm not a huge fan of spoken word / dialogue in music... There's a couple songs on the first Ziltoid album I would have preferred without the dialogue, and from the sound of it, Dark Matters is going to have way, way more.

I'll probably end up mixing and matching songs from the two discs, keeping some with dialogue and others without. I dunno, we'll see.

I think the 3rd disc is a good idea. Personally I'm fine with the Ziltoid talky bits but sometimes they can be a little overbearing. For example the part before Solar Winds kinda drags, I'd rather it get to the actual music. That's just me though.

The dialouge literally takes up roughly 50 seconds of a 10 minute song.

Even if the dialouge wasnt there, there would still be 75 seconds of ambience before actual "musical" vocals come in. It would drag either way.

So I'm not allowed to dislike it because of that?

For the record I don't like the ambience there either, and I get the feeling it was only included for the dialogue. I like Dev's ambience generally but that bit bores me.

I probably came off more rude than I was intending. Sorry about that.
The thing is though, there could potentially be even more atmospheric talky bits littered throughout Z2, so I just dont really understand how not having dialogue makes much difference in that regard.

It would be like listening to Scenes From A Memory with all of the hypnotherapist's lines taken out. Is it really worth it? Does it really improve the album that much?

I think adding the 3rd disc is especially good for brand new fans. Metal has a tough fanbase a lot of the time, and if someone picked up Z2 on whim without knowing Devin, they might be disappointed. Although I supposed it could have been included as a download code in the 2disc.

On another note, Deathray lyric video on Gunshyassassin.com tomorrow!

So I finally decided to drop about $38 and complete my collection of Devin Townsend albums (the important ones anyway).

I got Infinity, Infinity EP, Accelerated Evolution, and Synchestra, all of which I had never heard in full besides a few tracks here and there. from YouTube/ live performances.

I kind of regret buying Infinity and the EP. The combination of just really weird (not in a good way) songwriting and a bad production soundwise (imo) just really makes it hard to listen to. I will say that there are a few cool songs on here that I do like a lot: Christeen, Bad Devil, Ants, Unity, Man, Sit In The Mountain, and Noisy Pink Bubbles are all pretty great.

Accelerated Evolution is fucking awesome and Synchestra is HOLY FUCKING SHIT  :metal :metal :metal :hefdaddy levels of incredibleness. Definitely one his best albums I think. Maybe I shouldn't praise it too much after just one listen, but wow. Top 5 album I think. Hopefully its not a "shrinker" after repeated listens.

All of those are good stuff... I also am a huge Synchestra fan. It's up there for me as well. There's so much within that album that I think for some it can be too much but its awesome to me!  :metal

Man, what an awesome song  :metal    great chorus.
I love the melodic and lyrical throwbacks to the original Ziltoid album  :tup
Definitely seems like more a reboot than a sequel. Sounds like this is the 2014 reimagining of Ziltoidia Attaxx!!

nice catchy poppy song.  will be good to hear it in high quality, it sounds like the sound will be great, but hard to tell from youtube audio.  not sure how I feel about the extra syllables in those lines in the chorus though (like "intergalactic shake, intergalactic deathray"), seems like it takes you out of the rhythm.  I'll see how I feel about it after repeated listens.

who knew, Ziltoid's space navy is made of oreo cookies!

Anyone plan on going to see Dev when he hits Dallas?  Oddly, he's playing at the Gas Monkey Bar and Grill.  Looks like they have a bunch of shows there, including Amaranthe in a few weeks.  But i plan on taking my son to see Devy.  It's Dec. 11.

Can't wait for the new album!  Trying to hold off listening to the new tracks on YouTube or wherever until the album is released.  So far, so good.  But we'll see.....
