Ok so bear with me here since I'm still relatively new to DT, I still haven't heard all of WDADU and FII (I plan on buying them soon)... I hope no one gets mad at me for bumping this post as I thought it was a pretty cool idea and found it by searching for something else.

Images and Words: Metropolis / Under A Glass Moon
Awake: 6:00 / Caught In A Web
SFAM: Fatal Tragedy / Beyond This Life
SDOIT: The Glass Prison / Blind Faith
ToT: As I Am / This Dying Soul
Octavarium: The Root of All Evil / The Answer Lies Within
Systematic Chaos: The Dark Eternal Night / Repentance
Black Clouds and Silver Linings: The Best of Times / The Count of Tuscany
ADTOE: Breaking All Illusions / Beneath The Surface

Cross Album: Tough to say but I guess In The Name of God / The Root of All Evil

6 Degrees - Blind Faith -> Misunderstood (2 best songs on the album)
Train Of Thought - As I Am -> This Dying Soul
Octavarium - The Root Of All Evil -> The Answer Lies Within
Systematic Chaos - Prophets of War -> The Ministry Of Lost Souls
Black Clouds - Wither -> The Shattered Fortress
A Dramatic Turn Of Events - Breaking All Illusions -> Beneath The Surface

Picking anything but The Mirror/Lie for Awake just seems so wrong to me. Then again, a lot of people dislike Lie.

Lie is The Mirror's tiny parasitic sea partner, that bites down into The Mirror's body where it can't get rid of it and stays there feeding upon it for nutrients, eventually fusing to its body so they become one; a powerful and dominant creature, and its pitiful little parasite.

WDADU: Light Fuse and Get Away -> Afterlife
I&W: Either WfS -> Learning to Live or Surrounded -> Metropolis. I think I'll go with the latter.
Awake: Scarred -> Space-Dye Vest (I'm sorry, Blob.)
FII: Anna Lee -> Trial of Tears (yes, not HK -> LITS, deal with it.)
SFAM: One Last Time -> The Spirit Carries On
SDOIT: Another hard one... I'll go with TGD -> Disappear, which barely edged out TGP -> Blind Faith
ToT: Stream of Consciousness -> In the Name of God, though it kind of feels a little wrong to not have Vacant in there with them.
8VM: Sacrificed Sons -> Octavarium
SC: The Ministry of Lost Souls -> In the Presence of Enemies
BC&SL: Wither -> The Shatter Fortress
ADTOE: Breaking All Illusions -> Beneath the Surface
Cross-album: Either In the Name of God -> The Root of All Evil or The Count of Tuscany -> On the Backs of Angels. I won't decide on this one.

I've also read that Lie is The Mirror's mentally challenged cousin, so your metaphor is only second-best (unless you came up with the first one as well)  :)

Mr. Deeds, The Longest Yard, Big Daddy, Click... Adam Sandler plays some pretty cool characters in those movies. Certainly better than Happy Gilmore or Billy Madison.

They're all terrible, just terrible. The only acceptable answer would have been Little Nicky.
And now an innocent comment about Lie being a parasitic sea creature has taken us off topic somehow. :P

They're all normal, certainly non-retarded characters. Honestly, I'm surprised you didn't say Water Boy.

But Lie is awesome. Best heavy DT song of the 90's.

Lie is the start of Awake's nosedive into the half hour stretch that drags Awake down to my most disliked DT album. If that's the best heaviness DT could manage in the 90s, that's just sad. The Mirror is much better.

The Mirror starts off great, but kind of drags on. Lie's main riff is pure awesome.
And personally, I'd say Awake has stumbles all throughout. Innocence Faded, while a pretty cool song, isn't anything special. The beginning of Erotomania is pretty annoying, and a bit of a grind, Lifting Shadows again, pretty cool, but nothing too special, and Space-Dye Vest... Well, let's not get into that.

I actually like every song up until Lie. Lie is the beginning of the end for me. And well I've already summed up my thoughts on Lie earlier. :lol
