Okay, here we go: a positive thread about Mike Portnoy. Basically, list the 10 albums that you like the best that he has played on. Note that I am talking about how much you like the album as a whole, not necessarily ranking them according to his performance.

If this was based solely on performance, I&W would be on that list. And I like what he does on the first OSI album, but it's not among my favorite albums.

I have to admit, I'd basically just be ranking DT albums here.

Aside from LTE, I haven't taken interest in any of his side projects like TA, FC etc.

I didn't want to name 10 because it would dilute my list. But, here's a solid 5:

6DOIT - This is easily one of my all time favorite albums. MP's drumming is on a totally different level than the rest of his performances (especially disc 1).
SFAM - Close second to 6DOIT. This album feels more like a long song than the song, 6DOIT, does.
LTE2 - The album changed my mind about progressive rock. I was wishy washy before I heard this glorious album.
ToT - so dark, melodic, and moody. The sound of this album is like no other. It's DT's most focused album.
The Whirlwind - I just got into this album a couple months ago and it quickly became one of my MP favorites. It's very successfully classic prog which is nice.
