Don't recall the video at all, but do feel like this was the only song of hers I enjoyed. Otherwise she was basically a non-entity for me in the 80s, except when she showed up at that Wrestlemania.

Sidenote: there were 3 songs played at an 80s club I used to go to all the time that were automatic piss breaks for me. I couldn't for the life of me remember what the 3rd one was. It was 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun"

This was probably my favorite of her three hits from She's So Unusual, although is still wasn't a huge favorite of mine or anything. But I like it. I remember the video being fairly entertaining, but not much else about it; I haven't seen it in probably almost 30 years. As for the lyrical content of this tune, I had no idea what it supposedly was about till like 10 years ago, and by then, it was so far off of my radar that the revelation was nothing more than a passing thought, but I guess for those who knew it at the time, it had to be quite a shock, considering the time period.

I remember the "controversy" about the lyrics, and while some people were aghast, I know a lot of people who just thought "Really? Cool." Also, I think Cyndi has denied that there's any secret meaning to the lyrics; I don't remember what she said the lyrics were really about, but it wasn't what everyone thought it was. But then, maybe she was just saying that to keep everyone guessing.

My discovery of what She Bop was about came several years later, but not because I was clueless about it-because it was listening to the song myself in the late 80s where I figured it out-but because I really, really, really didn't like Cyndi Lauper's music at the time. I was a pretty narrow minded guy musically then-metal, hard rock, and prog ruled, everything else could go out the door-so generally when Cyndi Lauper came on, I tuned out. Unless it was Time After Time. Chicks liked to slow dance to that one.

That whole first album was recorded with The Hooters as the back up band. Erik Brazillion (sp?) got a great voice.

Yup! The Hooters we a great live band.

Funny I saw Cyndi Lauper at a free radio concert and two of the guys from the Hooters toured with her. She put on a great show.

See, that's the funny thing. I didn't much like Cyndi Lauper, but yet I totally knew the Hooters were her back up band on the first album. Music news just percolated around in weird ways I guess.

Belinda Carlisle - Circle in the Sand

This wasn't her biggest hit out of her four hits in the 80s, but it was by far the best of the lot, IMO. This is just a great pop song; great vocal melodies, interesting (by pop standards) lyrics, gorgeous music, and it had a nice little video, too.

I think he's spelled Bazilian

and Rob Hyman, the keyboard player of the Hooters wrote Time after Time with Cindy Lauper.
The Hooters sometimes play a stripped down version of that song in concerts, I quite like their take on it.

I have no memory of this song. At all. I remember Heaven is a Place on Earth and I Get Weak (the latter because I cheerfully turned it into a parody called "I Eat Meat". Why yes, I was still drinking at the time) but I don't remember this one at all.

She Bop was quirky enough to catch my ear and take hold though - nice slice of the 80s right there.

Nu Shooz - I Can't Wait

Besides the bass keyboard riff heard at nearly every NBA game of the past 20yrs, this song really grooves. Love the guitar flicking over the keys during the verses. It's like a melding of 70's groove with 80's technology. But the real gem is clearly that bass key progression.

Elton John - I'm Still Standing

This was the first song I knew by Elton John, I loved it, and to this day, it is still one of my favorites by him (although I am admittedly not a big fan of his). Very cool song, and I remember the video being a lot of fun.

The textbook definition of a catchy song. In fact, just seeing the title caused the chorus to leap into my mind, and I probably haven't heard the song in 20 years. That's what you call a memorable tune!

Europe - Cherokee

While not as popular as The Final Countdown's title track, this was easily my favorite of the four hits/videos from that Europe record. A very nice tune, with some great melodies, and the instrumental section (guitar solo followed by a cool synth-driven section) is a large reason why I thought DT sounded like a heavier, more ballsy Europe the very first time I heard Pull Me Under.

Cherokee is a nice song from this great band. The Final Countdown has some great songs (although I prefer the album before it, Wings Of Tomorrow). I remember my little sister and me playing this song together on our acoustic guitars when we were younger - it sounded a little weird on acoustics but it was fun.

I can't remember how high they all charted, but The Final Countdown, Rock the Night (another favorite of mine), Carrie (major CHEESEBALL 80s ballad) and Cherokee all had videos that got heavy rotation on MTV.

I'm still standing is catchy, but not annoyingly catchy, at least to my ears. Quite like this song.
