I'm going to be a lonely man on this survivor.

Another Rainy Night...again.    Though I would vote for Resistance if it saves Della Brown.

Notwithstanding the fact that I dislike the more commercial elements of this album...I'm still surprised to see Resistance go so quickly.   Even though I'm alone in hating the Beiber-esque "hit singles", I would have figured Hand on Heart would at least be in the running at this point.

If the 'hit single' were to go first, it would be Silent Lucidity then. :)

Della Brown again.

I think every song on this album is absolutely amazing, including the "Bieber-esue hit singles", haha. I'm having trouble deciding between The Thin Line, Hand on Heart, and Resistance.

Della Brown again. I've grown to appreciate the song (took years and years), but it's still nothing special... Besides that bass line.

That's actually a very good point.   I guess the other two just *feel* more like "hit singles"...like in the Britney Spears/Justin Beiber sense.    Like something you'd hear on Disney radio.

I like the "creepy" vibe through the center of SL....saves it.

The first hit single was Empire.  Trust me. It was all over the radio and MTV played it a ton.

No one said which single was the first.   Empire was first, and it was awesome.   I think he was just implying that SL was the *biggest*...and that is correct.

Interesting to note the chart position of six total singles from Empire.

These are from the Mainstream Rock Tracks Charts.

Silent Lucidity - #1 (also #9 on Billboard's Hot 100)
Jet City Woman - #6
Another Rainy Night - #7
Anybody Listening - #16
Empire - #22
Best I Can - #28

I guess I'm predictable than I thought.   With the exception of Silent Lucidity, there is a direct correlation between my dislike of the song, and it's trip UP the charts.   I actually really love Best I Can and Empire.

Why is it that a hit song has to be hated.  I never got that.  There was a reason SL was on the charts for that long,  it was that good.

I never said a hit song *had* to be hated....I even pointed out that SL was the exception because I loved it.    I just tend to hate cheesy pop songs, which are the songs that tend to race up the charts.    And ARN and JCW are cheesy pop songs (IMHO...I realize I'm the minority).

I didn't mean you  jammindude.  Just in general.  But I would never say JCW and ARN are cheesy pop song.  They are far from it.  You must be a hardcore metal fan.
