WINNERS ANNOUNCED!!!--Annual DTF Donations Contest
« on: February 01, 2012, 08:43:31 AM »
EDIT:  Winners have been chosen!  https://www.dreamtheaterforums.org/boards/index.php?topic=30747.msg1243713#msg1243713

Another anniversary will shortly upon us!  Hard to believe this forum has been up and running now for almost 5 years!  Congratulations, DTF!  And in keeping with prior years' traditions, I am once again offering prizes for those who donate $10 or more between now and the end of February.

Anyone donating any amount will recieve DTF Alumni status, indicated by green stars/bars under your user name and green user status.  Anyone donating $10 or more will be eligible for a drawing at the end of the contest for one of the following prizes:
-Bag-o-Bootlegs include 8 randomly picked live shows on CD spanning the years between Images and Words and Octavarium. There are two of these available.
-Transatlantic Official Bootleg DVD (this is the DVD that is being sold exclusively at the merch booth on the TA Whirlwind tour)
-Systematic Chaos tour book, in brand new condition
-Dream Theater Silver Anniversary poster
-SiYour choice of any single item (CD or DVD; not box sets) from Ytsejam records

Rules:
1.  Donate $10 or more by February 29, 2012 by using the Paypal donation link on the forum
2.  PM me the details of your donation with the words "2012 donations contest" in the title so I can keep track.  (user name, real name, date of donation, amount)

PLEASE NOTE:  You must follow the rules above.  There will be no exceptions.  Somebody two years ago did not send me the proper information, waited until well after the fact, and did not end up receiving their prize as a result.  I really NEED to clean out my PM inbox because I have over 1,000 PM's.  That isn't your problem; it's mine.  BUT what it means to you if you are donating is that you must PM me accurate details on time with the proper title in your PM or else I might miss your message and it may then end up lost in the PM abyss.  Don't let this be you!

Whether you donate or not, thank you all for another year and for your continued support of the forum, monetary or otherwise.

FAQ:  "How much should I donate?"  I get this question a lot.  There isn't really a right answer.  I've had single donations of as little as a few dollars and as much as a couple of hundred.  It's up to you.  Every bit helps cover the costs of running this place.  If I had to answer, I guess my "preferred" amount would be $35.  But please don't let that deter you if you want to give and can't give that much.  As I said, every bit helps and is appreciated.  Thanks.

Sorry, I just didn't find them as functional.  :-\

But today is your lucky day, my friend! I switched to another theme just so I could donate some of my kangaroo money to this fine establishment. Your PM will arrive shortly.

Well technically you did. We don't actually have "money" here. We just barter kangaroos around to get what we want. I won't tell you what part of the kangaroo I traded, but it seemed to convert to the necessary amount for this contest.

I'm glad to give money to keep this place going. It won't be much (me being a poor college student), but I'll put in what I can!

Hopefully I can finally get one of those Jordan Rudess action figures.

Just kidding, it's totally sweet being green. I forgot that I'd get those neato green stars I could see. :hat Thanks bosky.

Lets see... it is the 1st... I just forked over every dollar I have to my name to rent...... and now I am being asked to donate to this dump? what the hell is that?

jk

I woulda donated last year if paypal wasn't stupid... I might this month depending on finances... I want green starz... and to support my digital home
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces
