Hey DTF! Had a thought in Bio class today. I think it would be awesome if we had a bunch of us play a game, and do some sort of bracket tournament. Start with one bracket, and divide into a winners and losers brackets. Then the winner of those two face off in a best of three championship.

The game I had in mind was Scramble With Friends. Each game consists of only 3 rounds, and each round is timed to two minutes. I think it would be perfect.

Your thoughts?

You mean Words with Friends?

Cause if you do, my money is on Zep, but I'd certainly play. I play Words With Friends with quite a few DTF members. The nice thing with Words With Friends is that the only requirement be someone has Facebook, because I have a few friends who play through Facebook since they don't have smartphones.

Words with friends would take way too long, as well as requires a good amount of luck (in many cases), as well as being able to cheat in. Scramble with friends would be good because both opponents have the exact same boards, the games are quick, and you can't really cheat.

I find Scramble to be much more entertaining. It keeps you on the edge of your seat.

It's a Boggle clone DTVT there should be a free version it's another Zinga game.

BY THE WAY, I think I am about to beat Splent in Words with Friends. He has yet to make his last move though.

WE had a chess tourny once... and i was supposed to play someone for the winner of the tourny but we never played... i jsut remembered this now and am sad...

I don't cheat either, and Splent and Zep routinely beat me, although I know I beat Zep once (out of ten or so trys), and I think I beat Splent once as well. I only remember the time I beat Zep because I had a 155 point word in that game, "QUARTERS" with triple letter Q and R across triple word score and a 35 point bingo bonus. That one misplaced T is all I needed.

Most of the users here match up real well with me. Ytse, Jamesman, Elsydion, and Nick are others I play with.

I paid the 99 cents to avoid the ads.

The only problem with Words with friends is that you can take your time, which is great for casual settings because you play when you can - which is why I love it. I can play 20 games at once, and sometimes its rapid fire, other people moves are made every few hours. It's on your honor to not cheat, and the game is the ref so you don't have to worry about trying to play a word and losing your turn if its rejected. The only times I've been questioned about things are words that end in Q (just learn them, UMIAQ, SUQ, and TRANQ), and when I break out the science words. Trust me when I say I know what and azide is. I'm sure you have some nearby, and you're damn thankful of it as well.

So is this just for people who have smartphones, or can the Facebook people jump in too? DTF is literally the only thing in the universe that could get me to start playing Words With Friends.

EDIT: If we do an organized bracket, a really good way around the whole "taking too long" thing would be to impose a time limit of a few days (maybe a week), and whoever is winning by the end of the time period moves on.
