What makes you feel better when you're sick?

Today I'm sick. It sucks, everyone knows that. But I have this ritual that makes me feel better everytime I'm ill. First, I relax. Second, I get into my sick sweater. It's a sweater 2 sizes too big on me and I drown in it...like a comfy blanket. Third, I grab some OJ. Vitamin C makes my day. And finally, I watch Star Wars. More times than not, It's ROTJ. Which is what I'm doing right now.

So I ask, What makes you feel better when you're sick?
Do you have any rituals that ease the sickness?

Depends on how sick I am really. Just a cold or sore throat?  Lots of tea usually and whatever else I normally do (go to work then veg out in front of computer when I get home).

Flu or some other ailment? Soup plus a DVD marathon, usually some television series I own.

I put some Vitamin C in my body, definitely.  I also sip on Sprite.  All I really eat is unbuttered toast and soup.  I put on a relaxing movie, nothing too intense (I can't even do music), and I just dose off for the whole day.

Masturbating while you're sick is going to wear you out and eaken your immune system.  Alcohol is going to dehydrate you and potentially make you prone to puking.  Take it easy, dude!

If it's just a slight cold or something, I stop being a pussy and get on with my day.



For a real bug, with fever and chills and all that crappy shit, I have a sick shirt(flannel with thermal sleeves, half the buttons missing), slap on some sweats, oj and Gatorade, thera flu, soup and sandwiches and an ocassional banana or pear, the afghan my grandma knitted me when I was 12, and whatever brainless tv I can find.

I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

do something that takes my mind of feeling ill. I try and get out of the house for a short walk regardless of how weak I may feel, usually eat a nice hot soup, try and avoid looking at screens if possible just because that tends to give me a headache when ill (Although I often cave in to temptation and boredom and end up playing videogames for hours!)

I haven't been very sick in years. I usually just pop a few Advil or cold medicine and go about my day as usual, trying to stay away from anyone I could infect. If it happens to be the weekend, I'll try and just lay around relaxing as much as I can.

Last time I stayed home sick...which had to be at least 4 years ago, I did the same. Curling up and watching Star Wars is a great sick activity.

Been fighting off a cold for a week now. 

Comfort food,  whatever that may be at the time.  I gain weight when I'm sick as it's really the only time I'll big, unhealthy meals.  Might as well get some kind of enjoyment while otherwise miserable.  Probably the first time I've had cookies and cream Blue Bell in 10 years. 

Watched a bunch of Star Trek movies.  Probably suffer through Generations tonight.

Finally got around to finishing a game of Empire Earth II I'd been working on for a couple of months.

Why is it when someone is sick they always make the best progress on video games? I did the same the last time I was sick. I powered through 007 Bloodstone on the hardest difficulty in no time, but when I'm all better I can barely get through the first level without dying 40 times.

Other than taking whatever medication it takes to make me feel better, the one thing I have to say is that I like to be left alone, unless it's some sort of illness where that could be dangerous. (Something involving a high fever, say.) Most of my family-my dad and my sisters especially-are the sort that when they get sick, they lean on other people. Growing up, that was my mom. I never liked that, and always tried to take care of myself when I was sick just to help her out. Consequently, I grew up to be self reliant where being sick was concerned.

So when I feel like crap, the best thing that you can do for me is leave me alone and let me concentrate on feeling better.  :biggrin:

I got sick yesterday for the first time in nine years.  I got up, was nauseous and dizzy.  I fainted while trying to make breakfast, then had dry heaves.

Then I was fine in two hours, went to class, and played volleyball and hockey that night.  Super immune system ftw  :metal

I rarely get sick since I stopped touchin bathroom door handles, I started doing it around the swine flu freek out.


anyhow...I gargle with hot salt water when I feel my throat get going.
