Gorille85 Stolen Babies - Mind Your EyesExcellent stuff right here. I love the girl's voice and how the guitars blend with the synths. I also like how fast-paced the song is. The riffs are nice and catchy, and in general it's just a massively enjoyable listen. Avant-Garde Metal FTW.
5 pointszxkhlo/NocturnalConspiracy Some Ambient Shit I DunnoThis song made for pretty good background music, but there wasn't much there that kept me going back to the song to hear it again. It pretty much summed up my problem with ambient music as a whole. I just feel like it doesn't really go anywhere.
3 pointsDark Castle Dawnbringer - The DevilYES. Man, this song hit it right on the head. It's technical, heavy, and just flat out awesome. I really like how the song sounds like a big melting pot of metal. There's the soaring guitar melodies that wouldn't sound out of place on a melodeath album, and then there's the thrashy drumming and the Maiden-esque riffing. And the singer combined with the production really gives me a late 80s vibe that can't be beat. Well done.
5 points73109 Falconer - Lord of the BlacksmithGood lord. I was going to really try to take it easy on this song, but holy fucking christ. If people on this board think Symphony X is cheesy, I don't want to know what they'd consider this. When the chorus of this song came in I ejected nacho-flavored processed cheese spread out of every single orifice of my body. The lyrics are just fucking atrocious as well. If this band isn't a parody band, I offer my condolences to the country of Sweden for being the birthplace of this. At least the riffs are heavy and you can kind of hear the bass.
2 points if they're serious, 5 points if they're pulling an elaborate troll, because it got me big time if they areYtseBitsySpider Ozric Tentacles - CoilyExcellent. I enjoy this type of synthy stuff more than people here might imagine, but it's actually the first style of music I liked that wasn't late 90s bubblegum pop. The fact that it's in a ton of different time signatures just makes it even better. I will be chilling out to this band for a very long time.
6 pointsRavenheart Nightingale - The DreamreaderMore Swano = more points. This song was pretty close to being the round-winner, but I miss the growls.
Thankfully Swano's clean voice is just as awesome to listen to. I especially love when he harmonizes. He reminds me very much of a slightly different Mikael Akerfeldt, which is great considering how much I love him as a singer (and funnily enough, I wish he'd growl more as well). I'm going to have to issue a ban on anything else Swano related (as long as he's not the main contributor). It's really not fair to the rest of the contestants, and I already know that I want everything this man has performed on.
5 pointsClairvoyantCat The Flashbulb - Autumn Insomnia SessionVery chilled, very relaxing, and it's got that nice electronic vibe that a lot of people are tapping into with this roulette. It's got a very solid groove too. I could listen to this whether I feel like sleeping or bobbing my head along. The drums are also very impressive.
5 pointsariich Cherry Poppin' Daddies - Here Comes the SnakeDamn. This song is catchy as hell. I love ska, and this is exactly why. It's very sultry and seductive, and I'm very glad that it didn't devolve into pop-punk like most ska bands seem to want to do these days. If you have more stuff like this, I want it.
