18 years ago today, one of the most unusual scandals in American sports history began when Nancy Kerrigan was assaulted by goons associated with rival Tonya Harding. Despite the attempt to break her leg by her assailant, she sustained only a bruise/contusion and still managed to snag the silver medal at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Norway.
