Ok Alex, I don't like it nearly as much as you do but you seem to have a personal connection to it, and that's awesome.

Wolf, I think Ralph joined the band in 2006 on The Stench of Redemption album. So no.

Righto, thanks mate!

Also,  :metal :metal for Raining Blood and Hatebreeder.

2 albums that I adore, and one that I think is perfectly listenable. It's good to see some Buckethead on here, and I definitely wasn't aware of how much you liked Population Override.
Orion....that's the one with a bunch of power chords and boringly harsh vocals, isn't it?

20. The Sound of Perseverance by Death

Coming in at spot numero 20 is one that aside from it's ranking on my list, has always held a very special place in my heart. Death has an incredible discography to begin with (Leprosy and Symbolic coming in close second with this album), but this album really gets me on many different levels. It has the heavy as fuck moments I expect from all death metal; it has intelligent sounding wankery and deedling (technical terms); it has lyrics that oddly enough are very relateable (at least they always have been for me, in a comforting sort of way), and so on. This album IS a technical death metal album, and not just that kind of technical you get where guitarists play odd time sigs really fast every song. Plus, TSoP kind of reminds me of something that Devin Townsend once said about metal and why he personally enjoys playing it; that metal is a way for one to express everything that is much bigger than us or much bigger than what we can fully wrap our heads around. And I feel this is what TSoP does, particularly in the lyrics. They have a very nihilist feel to them (hell, the inside booklet has a quote from Frederick Nietzsche), but in an almost comforting way. They describe human behaviors in such a way that I both relate to and help bring these ideas full circle. So to end this write up, R.I.P. Chuck Schuldiner. You were a genius amongst a sea of mediocre writers/musicians.

Highlight Tracks - Scavenger of Human Sorrow, Bite The Pain, Flesh and the Power it Holds

19. A Night at the Opera by Queen

Right here, this very album, is one of many crowning achievements in rock history if you ask me. Hell, this album literally saved Queen's career from coming to a close at the time of it's release. And that alone deserves whatever amounts of praise it gets. This album is absolutely fantastic, lovely and rockin' all in one. And it's one of the few "flawless" Queen albums in my honest opinion. There isn't a single second I would exclude from this album. Which is funny, because my first couple of listens rendered me a little disappointed. But with each listen, my enjoyment for this album grew and grew. The way Freddie goes about his several different vocal styles throughout the album is the main attraction for me, followed up by the fantastic mix this album has and Brian May's lovely guitar tone. Not to mention, I was slightly floored after I read that no synthesizers whatsoever were used in the recording of this album. Which interested me, because there are several moments where I just have to sit and say to myself "How the fuck is that a guitar doing that thing?". God damn I love this album. Also, R.I.P. Mr. Freddie Mercury. One of the greatest, if not THE greatest, vocalist in rock history.

Highlight Tracks - Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon, You're My Best Friend, Sunday Rendezvous, Bohemian Rhapsody

18. Bucketheadland 2 by Buckethead

Now that I got the accessible Buckethead album out of the way a few spots back, let's talk about Buckethead at his most insane and fucked up. Which is honestly what this album is when summed up shortly; Insane and fucked up. The album is a loose concept album about a theme park run by Buckethead, and about a man who worked at the theme park and was fired so he goes insane and wants to kill everyone. That's the assumption I get from the sound samples throughout. Now, let's get to what it is all about musically. This album is fucking heavy. One of Buckethead's heaviest efforts. As our Bucket wearing hero plays this insane and fucked up music, he is really taking you on a musical journey through his imaginary theme park. The riffs actually work quite well with describing how you should feel if you were exploring the landscape that is Bucketheadland. It also helps that there are a ton of sound samples that play throughout the album to describe different areas of the park, peoples reactions to the park, and announcements about rules and regulations within the park. Yes, he went all out with this. At least, it feels like he did. It's definitely not an album you should listen to individual tracks from however. You will never get the full experience that way. It is a must that you listen to this all the way through. But be careful, you might go slightly mad by the time it's over.

Highlight Tracks - Fuck that just listen to the whole god damn album

I still thank Zander for showing me Death, now I just need to check out the rest of their stuff.

Buckethead, olol. Love him, but damn is that album difficult as fuck to get into. Giant Robot is still the best, by far out of his earlier stuff. BHL2 IMO, is just kind of a wank-fest at certain points, but there are some tunes on there which are Buckethead at his finest.

and Queen, oh.

Freddie Mercury is still one of the best vocalists in existence (...lol...)

Great album!  And yes, Freddie Mercury is the mold all frontmen should aspire to be.

17. Within a Mile of Home by Flogging Molly

Flogging Molly are a band that have always interested me on some sort of level, and it wasn't until around last summer that I fully began to appreciate just how good this band's music is. Within a Mile Home definitely being their god tier album (if you ask me). This might seriously be one of the happiest albums I have ever heard. It's simply upbeat folk/punk music. This is definitely my "Out doin' stuff on a sunny day" album. The amount of energy this album puts out is rather ridiculous, because I just can't find myself ever feeling down when I give it a spin.

Highlight Tracks - To Youth, Tobacco Island, Tomorrow Comes a Day Too Soon

16. Images and Words by Dream Theater

Well here you go, DTF, probably the most agreeable entry so far. DT haven't made the list until now for good reason. And this album definitely deserved a high spot such as 16. This album is an absolute classic in the world of progressive metal. I don't really know what to say about this album, seeing how I'm pretty sure it's safe to say that every single one of you has heard this album countless times. It's an amazing album, and an amazing feat that these undeniable talented musicians achieved way back when. The way LaBrie's voice sounds is absolutely angelic, Petrucci's guitar tone is godly, Myung's bass is as sick as it gets, Portnoy's drum work floors me every time and Kevin Moore's keyboard melodies are absolutely beautiful. This is THE quintessential DT album, and is an incredible piece of work.

Highlight Tracks - Surrounded, Metropolis pt 1, Learning to Live

15. Materia by Novembre

I think that Novembre might just be one of the most forgotten and underrated bands ever. Which is surprising, because with their very doomy, melancholic musical style (and their mixture of heavy and soft music) I'd assume the Opeth crowd would be all over this band. Materia especially. This album is a real gem. The way that this band mixes so many heavy sounds with soft, beautiful vocal performances and very sad melodies is unbelievable. Materia is a very doom filled album. It's sad and very hopeless feeling. Essentially a polar opposite of the previously mentioned Flogging Molly album. But by now we all know that sad, depressing music can be very beautiful. Which is what this album is. It's also one of the rare instances where growls work as more than just a way to be mehtul. They reveal emotion, which is evident with how scarce they are on this album. The growls are few and far between, but filled with such raw power it's almost chilling. I highly recommend this album to just about anyone, honestly. Especially the Opeth and Anathema fans. You guys would really dig this, I swear.

Highlight Tracks - Verne, Aquamarine, Nothijngrad
