Your First Rick Roll
« on: November 15, 2011, 06:14:44 PM »
I don't know. I was just reading about the history of the rick roll, and it reminded me of when I was first exposed to it. This is probably a dumb thread, but what the hell.

It was the first time I was ever freely browsing YouTube. I think I would have been about 14, and the prospect of having uncensored internet was just awesome (my mother had a bunch of parental controls on my home internet previously). I stayed up all night looking at all sorts of random shit on YouTube, particularly unreleased Megadeth songs, or just ones that I hadn't heard. I saw one that was for "The Bodies Left Behind" (which was later released on Endgame, but at the time it was unreleased). I clicked the link, excitedly, and the video started up. The funniest part is that the thumbnail kind of looked like Dave Mustaine with short hair to the stupid teenager that I was, so I actually thought it was real.  :lol
Orion....that's the one with a bunch of power chords and boringly harsh vocals, isn't it?
LOOK AT THIS AWESOME SHIT AHHHHHH

I don't know. I was just reading about the history of the Justin Beiber, and it reminded me of when I was first exposed to it. This is probably a dumb thread, but what the hell.

I stayed up all night looking at all sorts of random shit on YouTube, particularly unreleased Lady Gaga songs, or just ones that I hadn't heard. I saw one that was for "Poker Face" (which was later released on The Fame, but at the time it was unreleased). I clicked the link, excitedly, and the video started up. The funniest part is that the thumbnail kind of looked like JBeibs with short hair to the stupid teenager that I was, so I actually thought it was real. :lol

The funniest part is that the thumbnail kind of looked like Chad Kroeger with short hair to the stupid teenager that I was, so I actually thought it was real.  :lol

I don't recall exactly the first time I was rickrolled, but I remember watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade when Rick Astley rickrolled everybody.

Then a local alt rock radio station rickrolled a caller on the air  :lol
In high school my buddies and I built a Van Der Graaf generator.  You know, to get girls.

I hope that was a joke, or I'd have to spank you for liking Pickelback.  And not in a good way.

I'm pretty sure every Rick roll that I have come across had something to do with porn.
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

It was on the forums.  Probably DTF.com, before this place opened, I would imagine.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Yay or nay: First day of classes with kids in high school, end each period by saying "Oh, one more thing I need to show you about how this class is run" and Rick Roll the kids on the projector screen.

Ditto.  It was weird because you look at the guy and can't quite resolve it with the voice coming out.  But it's a great voice and the song is catchy.

Also, this is real:

That's on the wall in the waiting area where I get my tires fixed.  I took the picture myself because I couldn't believe it.
