I took a listen to the Cry of Dawn as what I'd heard sounded interesting.  Besides a decent couple of tracks at the start, it's as stale and generic as anything that Frontiers has delivered lately, maybe even moreso.  A shame cause Goram sounds pretty good.

Goran never sounds good to me - he sounds so whiny. Was listening to Yngwie's Eclipse the other day. Great album but would be so much better with JLT singing. Or pretty much any other singer Yngwie has had (except himself of course  :lol)

Oh is that the same dude? I actually like the singing on Eclipse, but even then he was clearly no JLT. Lacking the power and range.

Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

I will say that Fire and Ice is a really underrated Yngwie record IMO.

I did like some tracks on that but it was also a bit of a Skipathon.   I haven't played it in years but what I do recall (at time of release) was that I was playing the title track and Final Curtain quite a bit.  And that I thought the lead single (Teaser) was a bit limp wristed.   :)

Having said all that it's a fucking masterpiece compared to some of his recent stuff .

Ugh, just watched 30 seconds of a new Hardline song.  Sappy piano ballad with, you guessed it on piano.  Fuck man, I don't have time to sit through this shit, I have to get up at 4am.

When it started off with Del Vecchio sitting at a piano, I was like oh shit. I skipped right through it to see if it picked up at all, but it didn't. Screw that. We know these albums are gonna have the sappy ballads. We want rockers dammit! :lol

If that Hardline song is a confirmed Sapfest, I'll pass.

It is, but to be fair it's a good vocal.
I've liked some of the songs I've heard so far. Some del Vecchio cookie cutter stuff though. But that voice -  :hefdaddy

It was a bit of a letdown after Odyssey and Eclipse. Still, a million times better than his last decade and a half.

I'm still really interested in giving it a listen too, just because of his amazing vocals.  Between this and ARP, Johnny's voice seems to be quite wasted these days IMO.

Just listened to the new Tyketto. I didn't like the first single so wasn't expecting much but this listen was ok. Hated the third song but the rest was a pleasant listen. Some nice guitar. One track lifted the riff to to Yngwie's Now Is The Time and I spotted a couple of Queen licks, but better than the recent Frontiers stuff. Can't say I'm desperate to hear it again but it was ok.

Been eager to check out this one since hearing the first single, which I've listened to constantly since, one of the best songs Frontiers has put out in a long time imo. As is always the case with Frontiers albums though, the lead single is by far my favourite song on the album.
The first two singles (Reach, I Need it Now), and Tearing Down the Sky would be my early favourites. There are some good slightly heavier songs (relatively speaking) towards the end too, along with some of the wimpiest ballads too unfortunately.

Overall, so far I agree it was an ok listen, better than most recent Frontiers stuff, although the songwriting hasn't blown me away for the most part. Some songs feel like they have too many mood changes (Big Money would be awesome if they stuck to the chorus mood throughout), and the melodies could be stronger, but there's some great guitar work. Kick Like a Mule, Tearing Down the Sky, and The Fastest Man Alive rip it up with those solos. Also, the production is the best I've heard from Frontiers in.... I can't think of any off the top of my head that are close to as good.

Gonna give it a few more listens, but it may be another case of a great single hyping me up on an average album.

Wasn't even gonna bother cause I hated what I had heard, but might have to give it a chance if there is some mean solos.

Isn't listening to country music a bannable offense here?

I'd make another joke, but between those two posts, that's my knowledge of post-2000 Bon Jovi exhausted. :lol

I always thought Jovi ripped off The Sabbath Stones for It's My Life, but I think that may be giving him too much credit.
