Damn Spotify not in Canada.  I thought Avalon's release date was the 21st?

Yeah that's the official release date.

It actually sounds very similar to old Avantasia in the melody department. And unfortunately a tad too generic power metally.

Yeah, I think that's sort of what I mean, not much diversity in his song writing anymore.

The "play the  bass drums as fast as you can" approach should be banned in power metal. Boring, boring, boring.

I just feel that he used that over and over again in Strato and it worked for them, but if you are doing other projects, you need some diversity.

I'm telling you guys, if you want some good Power Metal, check out Lorenguard's debut album, Eve of Corruption.

Also, Enshrined in my Memory is the best song on the Avalon album.

I've spun PelleK's new album a couple of times now.  Very good melodic/symphonic/power metal.  Worth a listen.

Damn I love this dude's voice.

Also, I'm gonna snag the new TT Avalon release.  Are any of his solo efforts worth grabbing?

Hymn to Life is not what you would expect.  Not metal at all and has many different styles.  There's Key to the Universe, great song featuring Kiske.  Now I Understand is more of a pop effort, Devine is a moody atmospheric piece which is quite good.  Then you have Fresh Blue Waters which is almost country, and Father which is one of the most disturbing pieces of music I have ever heard.  I like the album, but definietely not what you would expect.

I haven't got his classical variations albums of his Saana album.  The first Revolution Renaissance album is a power metal must but the other two are forgettable.

Yeah, I stream'd the RR albums a couple months back (from Grooveshark).  Liked them plenty on first listen, but not enough to make a purchase.  Think I'll pass on his solo stuff.  Your lackluster description makes me think the listening experience will be the same.

new Jorn vid.  This is actually really solid and fresh.  Besides the verses sounding exactly like Dio's Push, this is great.  That riff just before the solo is absolutely incredible and the solos are stellar.  Also, the guitar tones of the harmonies during the solos, sounds exactly like the guitars on Death's Sound of Perserverance.

Dig that Masterplan.  Altzi sounds like he's gonna fit in just fine.

Yeah, I'm liking him a lot too.  The two songs released are solid and I'm confident already it will be better than the last crap fest.

Those Jorn and Masterplan videos are pretty good; paint by the numbers power metal, but good.  Jorn is kind of creepy in his video though.

I've always rated Teeny as a guitarist. good to hear him playing some heavier stuff than his day job in WigWam. Also, Flash is holding down some heavy bottom end. Pretty good song, might be a decent Jorn album at last. Unless all the songs are in this same tempo, as his last few have been.

Just listened to the new TT Avalon.  It was okay, but really didn't do too much for me to be honest.  Will give it time and keep pluggin it.  As Zook said, it's just pretty generic, even for your standard power metal.

Samples from a new project call Find Me featuring Daniel Flores and Robbie Leblanc.  These samples sound incredible, but the album doesn't come out until late August.  Make sure you check them, they're incredible.

The Magnificent was an amazing cd, but for some reason, it didn't have much lasting power for me.  I never feel a need to go back and listen to it.  I should do it though.

I don't listen to it as much as I did, but I still love it. Michael Eriksen really makes that album. If it were someone else singing, I probably wouldn't like it as much.

Boy, his voice has held up a little better than his face.

Really enjoyed the song though. My measure of good AOR is whether or not it works over an '80s movie training montage. This passed with flying colours.
Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.
Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.
