The debut Fair Warning is definitely the most rocking overall (got an HM in my Top 50 I think) , so maybe start there.

Just having a quick listen to the new Vega - like all their stuff it has some generic pop tendencies that I don't like much but I get the impression that this is a bit more my cuppa tea than their other stuff.   They remind me a lot of someone that I just cannot put my finger on too  ::) (definitely a little D2 in there but that's not it).

Anyway - I'm a bit more receptive to this one Kade  :)  probably their first 80%+ from me.

The Ted Poley is solid too - would rate it lower than the Vega (even less original) but is quality generic stuff like a lot of recent releases.

That's nice, I'm looking forward to it mate.  Interesting thoughts with the Ted Poley too, might have to have a listen.

Will be another month, still haven't listened to the Defiants, Treat or Sunstorm.  :lol

I dig it. I recall slightly preferring the first song, but I haven't heard anything bad so far.

Yeah good song.  Quite familiar as per usual but a cut above most of the stuff about these days.

The Ted Poley is on Spotify. I quite liked it, more so than the Desperados. As Brent said, nothing new, but decent.

It doesn't suck, but I'm just not sure what to do with it.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

Just got the Punky Meadows album that was just released, Fallen Angel. I'm about half way through and it's pretty enjoyable. At least it has its own character.
I quite liked Angel back in the day - I think I've got all the studio albums on vinyl but not played them in an age as I don't have a deck. Have played them now and again on spotify.

I did consider sending them in Jason's roulette but never got around to it.

I heard Got Love If You Want It but it didn't do much for me. I was big fan of House of Lords and Giuffria so a friend recommended Angel. They never appealed to me.

I like some of Angels material.  But for the most part, 70s glittery pop rock can be very hit or miss for me.

The Tower is a great song

Just been listening to Sinful. I don't have that one. They were never going to set the world alight but some good stuff amongst the chaff.

Like John I would've definitely checked out Angel due to the Giuffria connection but what I heard mustn't have hit the spot as I don't own any albums.

If you were to check out an Angel album, I think the debut is considered the best.  But overall, I would say don't bother.

A bit like KISS without any of the magic in the songwriting I guess. I wouldn't recommend them either now. Back in the day there were less bands to take my money. And I picked the albums up for next to nothing at the used stall in the market.

Just listened to the First Signal - I didn't think it was too ballady as most of the ballads are a bit ballsier than average.  I think it's a strong album within the confines of the usual lack of originality.    The only bad things that stood out were the odd drop in production quality and the occasional very low rent keyboard sound.  But on the whole it's good stuff - fairly standard Frontiers fare elevated by the mighty Mr Hess.

84% from moi.

What I am saying (and this applies to most of the metal being released too) is that in terms of style/sound it's pretty much all been done before and it's very rare for a new release to feature melodies and song structures that I haven't heard before.   Those rare albums from recent years (for me bands like Trail of Murder and Shy,...........and the latest SX) are the very, very few to score 90%+ from me.

If a fairly stock standard but very high quality group of songs with a great vocalist gets me tapping my foot/banging my head then I am prepared to give it a good rating in the 8-8.5 area.   I sometimes think that people see 84% as much higher than an 8.4/10 for some reason :lol   The same sort of sentiment applies to bands like Accept, Primal Fear etc.........enjoyable but predictable for the most part.

What are you doing in here anyway ? :lol

Yeah, you're right that they're mostly ballsier ballads, but they still lack enough edge that I need to get through any modern Frontiers music. :lol
There were a couple of great choruses on there that stood out to me,but overall I don't think I'll be listening to this one again.

Here's ome bullshit cliche, cheesy rock with terrible lyrics, but I quite like it, solid.  Some band called Narnia with CJ Grimmack, who is a stellar guitarist.
