Well damn, sounds like you're right. I'll have to give the album another chance tomorrow.

I just wanna give some love for Thunder. Always thought they were an awesome live band.

First album was immense but I felt it was diminishing returns after that in the studio. Saw them live dozens of times and yes they were a great live band. Danny Bowes is still a great singer.

My constant disappointment in new releases is becoming the norm but yeah - that Soto doesn't do anything much for me (although Orlando is only writer/guest on one or two tracks I think) and I'm just through my first listen to the new H.E.A.T. and it ain't a patch on Address The Nation.

The first track Point of No Return is a ripper but it's all downhill from there.  I rated it 72% vs something well up into the 90%'s for Address The Nation.

Listened to the new Heat this morning and agree with Brent. It was ok but Address The Nation was a new classic for me, up there with Danger Danger's Revolve, treat's Coup de Grace and Crazy Lixx' s New Religion. Didn't rate their first two albums at all so this one is better than those. The Britney Spears rip off was a wtf moment.

As soon as I saw Mike Orlando's name attached to the JSS I shuddered, in a bad way. Not heard the track yet but not expecting great things, even with that mighty voice attached. Good thing he's only on a couple of tracks. More talented people on other tracks luckily.

The new Gotthard is only ok too. Better than the last but not the 3 that came before that.

I know, and that's exactly what it sounds like too.  I wish he stuck too the style he did on Damage Control, this does sound shit.

RE: Heat, melodicrock gave it a 100% rating.  I only heard the single and didn't like it.  I still have it on order though.  Address the Nation was a classic.

Listened to the JSS and whilst it wasn't as bad as i feared it wasn't very good for a lead off track either. One dimensional bollox and a waste of JSS. And Orlando. I can hear the solo already. And his tone is shit.

Listened to some more Heat and its better. Not 100% ffs though.

Th new Dynazty has grown on me a bit but again, not a patch on the last one. Last 2-3 songs are very good though.

As far as I know, he's pretty much unknown before AB.  Don't know how he has become so popular.

First I saw of him was a few years ago on Youtube just playing ridiculously fast with no tone or melody to speak of.

The last three for me have been quite terrible.  Princess Arrow was a really nice return for the band with some great songs and then Moonking just blew it out of the water, that's a terrific album.  After that it's just been dull and boring and this new one is the same.  It's just so plodding, slow and lacks decent melodies.  Clarkin should retire and Bob should stick to solo material IMO.

FWIW rumours are circulating that the previously hinted at 40 date 40th Anniversary (and farewell) tour for AC/DC will not go ahead and that they will announce their retirement in the not too distant future.

;D  - me neither really.   They've had a good innings and as dementia sets in they might forget that song they play over and over

They've done more than hint about it -- Brian Johnson said in the last issue of Classic Rock that they will be doing a 40-show 40th anniversary tour.  Where are you hearing it's not going to happen after all?   ???

They'd be ending on a high note at least. Black Ice did very well, and the tour was really successful (at least here, playing something like 6 shows at the Stadium that holds 50k people or so).
Since they released Black Ice, there have been talks of them retiring, so this doesn't come as a shock. They were still good when I saw them, but they're tuning down a half step now (a little late for that to help poor old Brian), and even Angus wasn't quite up to his usual high standard. It would be best to end now rather than to run themselves into the ground. I'm sure they've got enough money at this point, and if not, the royalty cheques will keep them going.

FWIW a bloke I know down here who is pretty well connected (reviewer/interviewer) says it's Malcolm - blood clot on the brain or similar.

Yeah, it sounds pretty damn serious.  Health is more important.  The band have nothing to prove and should focus on Malcom's issue.

I hate to hear it's happening this way with health complications for Malcolm.  Class move by the rest of the band, though, if they're deciding (accurately) that no Malcolm = no AC/DC.

What's less classy about all this is the son of their first singer who has had nothing to do with their successful career being the one to break such huge and personal news on fucking Twitter.  What an asshole.....

There's some pretty cool interviews with producers here

https://thedoublestop.com/

The Max Norman one was really good (Ozzy, Lynch Mob, Megadeth etc.....) especially the story of the issues with Oni Logan and how he had to use retuned and re-timed demos to complete the recording.

Looking forward to Beau Hill next.
