Allen Gregory
« on: November 03, 2011, 05:33:16 PM »
I saw the first episode and found it more funny than post-2000 Simpsons, Cleveland, and Bob's Burgers, at any rate.  I dunno if it'll prove its worth to stand along side Family Man and American Guy, though.

What's your say on it?

(Also, I really like how the bald guy is a ripoff of Dean Pelton)

I really thought he was the same actor as Dean Pelton at first.

Though I must disagree with your assessment. Simpsons is very much on a rise back to hilarity and Bobs Burgers is one of the best things on Fox anymore. Family Guy hasn't even been nearly acceptable in years, but American Dad keeps getting better.

That said, Allen Gregory was defiantly great. I'm really looking forward to seeing how they go with it. The "In The Air Tonight" scene was fucking gold.

Is that one of those shows that doesn't get extremely funny until a few episodes in?  I watched the first few of it, and found it clever, if not ball-busting.

As for Alan, I will be watching it every week; it started off well enough, and I bet it could really turn out swell.

I honestly lost my shit laughing at every episode of Bob's Burgers. It manages a wonderful combination of dry humor, while being somewhat over the top and ridiculous.

Like the second episode, where he's in the wall. And he argues with his son about who wrote Narnia. And then later the son samples his grandparents having sex and uses that as his history report.

I enjoyed Allen Gregory over Bob's Burgers but I'd much rather have American Dad over both.

I don't know, I don't like the voice acting of Allen Gregory.

It looks terrible.  Just really really awful.

Admittedly, it looked kinda lame at first. First few minutes? Not that impressed. And then turbo boost of awesome kicked in and it was great.

I wonder how they'll sustain a premise like that.

I saw the pilot.. I get my fill of arrogant mean main character from Archer so that was pretty redundant.
I wouldn't want somebody with 18 kids to mow my damn lawn, based on a longstanding bias I have against crazy fucks.

arrogant mean main character

Doesn't that describe the majority of animated shows?

I got half way through the second episode and decided it was a half hour of TV I could easily do without.

I agree DTVT, gave the second episode a shot and all I could do is wait for the new Family Guy ep.

I have no desire whatsoever to watch this.
