GTA V
« on: October 25, 2011, 03:28:55 PM »
Rockstar announce today that a trailer will be released on Nov 2. I hope its a solid video and not some bullshit 30 second teaser. Think it's possible to have a release in time for the holidays?

I would love a Holiday release. Don't think it will happen though.

I remember San Andreas had MONTHS until release after showing their first pics/vids. I don't remember the IV release that clearly.

All were good, but I think my favorite was Vice City. I don't know...maybe 4..or maybe 3 or San Andreas.  :lol

I'm interested in the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 version of GTA 3. That could be good.

I still love 3 though. I got that back when I was 6. I have very fond memories of that game. I can pretty much recite every line of Chatterbox

Also GTA IV was announced in June 2006. So we could be a ways off from V.

The money design for the V is pretty interesting. Vice City, Las Vegas style setting, or DC?

A Vice City as well done as GTAIV's Liberty City would be amazing.

I've always thought so. My first game I got at age 5 was Red Faction on PS2. I don't think they understood the ratings system. Also, I go and see movies liked Knocked Up, Superbad, Harold and Kumar, and other R-rated, raunchy comedies with my parents not because I have to, but rather that they love these kinds of movies with humor like that. I've also been saying fuck in front of them since I was 15 with no penalty.

Jack Thompson would hate them, but I love them

Lucky bastard. My dad didn't let me play Goldeneye for n64 until I was like 11 because *some religious thing*. Luckily my parents got divorced by the time GTA III came out for xbox and I played that shit everyday

How is it on the Xbox? The controls would kind of mess me up since I'm used to PS2 controls. But the graphics look great on Xbox. Although, to this day, I still think GTA 3 has excellent graphics that I would pit against some 2003-2005 titles

I remember the graphics being better, as far as fire effects and stuff, but I think traded it in to a gamestop around 2005 or 06 so it's been a while. I think the controls could be setup a bit so they'd be similar to the ps2 version though.

I do remember that for Vice City the car's engines resembled actual engines (xbox), instead of just a bunch of gray pixels (ps2)

I very much doubt a holiday release if the first trailer is only coming out soon. Ive played every single GTA, yes including the 1st and 2nd, and while Vice City had the coolest story and setting, San Andreas had the biggest map and most extras, 4 was however the best with good storyline, amazing graphics, and an amazing nyc to screw around in... and add in the ballad of gay tony and I cant say anything else. Im very excited for another GTA.

I haven't played any GTA's other than 3 and Vice City, of those I preferred 3.

But I think this might be the next GTA I get if it turns out good.

Seriously. X/A is such awkward placement for a run button, especially when jump is square/X.

Really? I didn't know it has been modded to that extreme. I basically want COD modern warfare but in a heavily populated city.

GTA 5 would be so awesome.
Big fan of the GTA-games, I especially loved GTA 4 because I think it felt more realistic, but New York was just portrayed in an awesome way.
The good thing was the same as the negative, it was just one city.
While the city was awesome, there are so many cities I would love to see in a GTA-game.

For example: Los Angeles, San Fransisco and Las Vegas, yeah I do know that they are all in San Andreas (my favorite apart from GTA 4), but what I mean is that I would love to see them, with a newer graphic-engine, slightly bigger and more "realistic", for what it's worth.
Apart from those, Miami and Chicago might work really nice.

And I don't even think it has to be an American city (even though that will probably always be the case), but big international cities like London or Paris might be cool.

I would love it if Chicago was the city, and with that kind of spread you could include Detroit or Indianapolis almost.  If it was to be a non american city I'd have to go with Helsinki Finland  :hat

Can't wait for this, but I hope they reinject some of the fun/silliness of previous games that was missing from GTA4.

I'm really hoping for a larger diversity of vehicles with even more visual damage. Don't get me wrong, IV did a great job, but there was a lot of room for improvement. I'd also like to see a lot more gore. When I hit a pedestrian at 100mph, I'd like to see the explode (or at least get mangled) on impact. Speaking of mph.... I'd like to see a speedometer feature upon entering any vehicle, I'd find it to be very helpful.

I think a true online play would be awesome in GTA. Set it up like Playstation Home, but make it way more fun and full of blood.

As sadistic as it sounds, I agree with Chino. When I hit a pedestrian, I want to see some more... uh... red and stuff. IV was a good start. I mean when you hit a pedestrian in IV, the car would dent and there would be blood, but the ped would look just fine. Maybe a little bit more in that department

I'd bet on a holiday release for 2012.  They're probably still easily a year off.  Part of it depends on whether or not it's built from scratch or reuses lots of tech from IV.

Also,  when R* registered domain names for the fake businesses last year, the consensus seemed to be that they had a distinctly English tone.  That lead to a lot of speculation about moving the game back to London.
Argument, the presentation of reasonable views, never makes headway against conviction, and conviction takes no part in argument because it knows.

I also am really hoping it's set in Vice City. I remember saying that to myself after I finished GTA IV. I remember how much smaller and easier it was to navigate.

I thougth IV was the perfect map size. San Andreas was far too big. I don't know if it will be in Vice City, although I'd love another installment where I can listen to 80's ballads all day while playing. GTA III was in Liberty City, and the following GTAs that didn't have a roman numeral weren't. GTA IV was in Liberty City. This one having a V is confusing. I highly doubt that well will be back in Liberty City, which makes me wonder why they didn't follow the trend and calle it GTA something something.

Unless III was ground breaking and the following titles were just built off that same platform. IV was an entirely new platform. Maybe with V they aren't just going to modify IV. Perhaps they have built this one new from the ground up. I hope this is the case. I'd like to see a better physics engine and a total overhaul on the car performance.
