I second this Mr. Crescenzo. Come onnnn both bands have June album releases that are gonna need some serious touring to promote......

I would love to! but they are quite a bit bigger than us, so it would rely on them liking our band enough to ask us out on tour.

Well you guys are absolutely adored by the people on their message board so it would make sense. Maybe I will go stir the pot......

I have thought a good deal about eventually having a box set. I would really love to go back and rerecord act I if I had a chance... maybe even act II. I would love to set up with a huge group of musicians and just retrack everything over a few weeks- What I would REALLY love to do is get a small orchestra of musicians together, and track through all the records once they have been written, and release THAT as a box set.

The second album for sure.  The sound on that one is a lot more sophisticated and dynamic, and the songs are a lot catchier.

I don't know why, but after reading this, I've gone back to act II and it's instaclicked. I don't know the songs well, but it's awesome. His voice is especially great.

edit: is it silly to like a new album so much you want it to finish quickly so you can start from the beginning again?

edit2: okay, instaclick stage 2, I LOVE THIS BAND

edit3: it ran onto part I, and I love it too! My music mind works in strange ways (this reminds me of when I got into PoS)

I can't disagree. It killed when I played it a little while ago. I need to check it out with headphones now, but I gotta wait until tomorrow to do that.

How isn't this thread at the top of the page?!

I've listened to the album 3 times, and while I didn't like it at first It's a definite grower.

Stand-outs are:

The Tank
This Beautiful Life
Son
Go Get Your Gun

Given this a few listens thus far and it's really really good.  In Cauda Venemum, The Tank, Mustard Gas, and This Beautiful Life are all fantastic.

I've listen to the first half of the album so far and it's excellent. Act II took a few listens to graduate from good to jaw droppingly awesome, so hopefully this one only gets better with a few listens as well!

it seems like a reasonably fast grower. Also the version that's out there right now I guess isn't the FINAL MIX. So, while I'm loving the hell out of hearing it, I'm also assuming the final product will be different/better.

If anyone elses version has the transition tracks, I don't think they're supposed to be there. I read that since the deluxe has 18 tracks the uploader wanted to trick people into thinking it was the deluxe. Not sure how true that is though.

Anyway, my highlight songs:

Mustard Gas (current favorite)
Go Get Your Gun
Saved
In Cauda Venemum

This album is SO good, and the only thing holding it back from being better than the first two acts is The Thief.

The Thief was the 1st song that caught my ear. But I'm kind of hoping a better quality rip will come up soon, or my preorder arrives soon before digesting it more thoroughly.

It's easily 4.5 stars tho..it's only a matter of it having that extra ingredient to challenge for my aoty right now.

They're rock. Some people call them prog but I think that's really misleading. Just check out any of their 3 albums.

Wikipedia says they're indie, w/e the fuck that means.  It may help a little to know they're on the same record label as Forgive Durden, The Hush Sound, Cute is What We Aim For, and Panic At the Disco.

They're awesome. Check out Act II for an amazing full length album. But I'd recommend starting at the beginning. They only have two albums so far (with the third out tomorrow).

Given it a few spins so far.  It seems incredibly dense.  Gonna need to listen to it a few more times before I can really "get" it.  Seems like there's a lot of cool stuff going on though, and I get the feeling that it'll be a grower and that my opinion of it will quickly rise.

I agree. Not as many of the songs have the stand out catchy quality that a lot of them have of Act II, so I think we really need to become more familiar with them before we really appreciate it.

My theory is that teh progerz is teh porgerz as thus it's a must the has to fuck shit up.
It feels kind of weird saying this out loud, but...Scott is exactly right.

If you're cognizant of the general plot, you'll find this is a much darker album plotwise.

Well Act I I'm kinda hazy on, and Act II should be pretty obvious.

Act III:

The Boy is called on to fight in World War I, and he's sent to the front lines.  Before going up he meets the Poison Woman, who as her name suggests is a dealer in all sorts of deadly substances.  As he's fighting the war, he comes across the Mustard Gas Brigade or some shit like that, and they nearly kill him as they pummel his entire squad with grenades and toxic substances and whatnot.

The Boy is on the edge of death, no help for him now....until suddenly someone grabs him and deserts the battlefield with him.  They return to wherever the Boy is from, and he learns there that his rescuer is his father.  His father tells him the story of how he met Ms. Terri and essentially of his conception.

This is where it starts to get a little hazy for me, but apparently the Boy's father had another son, a legitimate half-brother to the Boy.  The father comments how much the Boy looks like his half-brother.  For some reason that I'm not sure of yet (my theory is vengeance for the hell he'd had to deal with as a bastard son), he finds and kills his half-brother, and proceeds to masquerade as him (as said, "You look just like him").  That's the best I've got.
