So for all y'all who are into the "story" part of the Acts albums, now that the tour is over, I've finally publicly posted the massive amounts of "Story Time" info that I've been gathering over the past few months.  Tons of juicy info from Acts IV and V in particular, all available here:

https://www.lakeandtheriver.com/index.php?showtopic=3881

Ok, so that was a great read. So much cool information. I'm stuck between wanting to know every detail and wanting there to be some mystery. Want to completely listen through all the albums now.....again  :lol

These guys are another level!!

This cd is still kicking my butt. I've got new cds from Devin Townsend, Alter Bridge, Neal Morse and now Metallica and all I want to do is go back to this gem. This is the best cd I've heard in several years.

After Act IV obviously  :lol

It's likely to be my album of the year. TDH are just the whole package for me. I'm still sat here waiting for them to announce a European tour!!

I'm super stoked for their next release... it's gonna be pretty unique.  Don't think I've ever seen another band do exactly what they're planning to do...

Lol, can't say too much right now, for reasons that will become clearer once it's announced, but if you dig deeply enough in the TDH subreddit there are some passing references to it that arose from a temporary Instagram spoiler which has since been edited out.  As for how I know... I was lucky enough to play a small role in its creation.  :D

Damn I'm excited then! The only thing I can really think of right now is a more electronic album because I know Casey's favorite Color to write was Indigo and he said he'd wanna go that route again, but who knows if he means now or later.

and ZeppDT, you've got me excited. I lurk the subreddit all the time. Interesting you say you don't think you've seen any other band follow this path.

So at this point, what would y'all say is your favorite song from Act V, how does it rank with the other acts, and what is your overall favorite song from the band? I'll start:

The Fire (Remains) is my favorite song from Act V still.

ACT IV
ACT III
ACT V
ACT II
ACT I

and my favorite song from the band is At The End of The Earth. Don't think I've ever heard a more beautiful song.

I think Most Cursed of Hands/Who Am I is my favorite from Act V. And favorite from the band ever? Man, that's tough. I'll have to think about that.

My favorite TDH song has changed quite often but for the past half year At the End of the Earth seems to have established itself as the best TDH song ever in my rankings too, it's so good.

Favorite from Act V, too, is The Most Cursed of Hands/Who Am I.

Album rankings (not 100% sure):

Act IV
Act V
Act II
Act III
Act I
people on this board are actual music fans who developed taste in music and not casual listeners who are following current fashion trends and listening to only current commercial hits.

Don't even know if I can pick a favourite Act V song, possibly The Moon - Awake or Melpomene.

Favourite all time TDH song, probably still A Night on the Town, I just love it. Although, I can't stop listening to Home at the moment, really love that song.

My album ranking is actually probably the same as Train's at this point.

Can't get enough of this band right now. So far I've only really digested Act II and IV, will need some time before I can pass judgement on the other acts. Act I is by far the weakest by first impression though.

It was great for me to discover this band. I haven't obsessed about a band like this for a few years. They really are great. I wouldn't say any of the Acts are weak to be honest. There is a clear progression in the music, Casey's talent and the budget for what can be spent on recording the albums (Orchestration etc). I love the ambition and can appreciate everything Casey was trying to do and where he was at the time of recording.

Then in between all this you have The Color Spectrum!! I love it and think it is vastly underrated. Some of my favourite all time TDH songs are from TCS!

Just a minor point, but this might be a bit misleading.  The orchestra for Acts IV and V was paid for entirely out of the pocket of Kevin Pereira.  There was no official budget available for the orchestra and they were gonna just not do it, but then Kevin was like "here, have some money".

Kevin Pereira  :tup

I guess if you have the money. I used to say about Bend Sinister, if I won the Powerball, I'd fund a tour for them. Some people actually love this music and have the money to make a difference.

I had actually read that on this thread. So even if the money wasn't in the budget it's likely that Kevin Pereira may have offered that money due to how the band had progressed and developed. Like, he may not have offered that money after hearing Act I alone. But by the time Act IV/V was ready to be recorded he'd heard Acts I-III, plus TCS and Migrant, and decided it was money well spent. I dunno, just my opinion.

To be honest I couldn't imagine Act IV without the orchestra. That's what gives it it's unique sound.

Gotcha.  They've definitely expanded and progressed since Day 1, so I didn't mean to suggest that there haven't been improvements.  I believe Pereira has been a fan since pretty early on.  I remember years ago he gave them what I believe is still their one and only television appearance when he brought them to play on Attack of the Show right around the time TCS was being finished.

"Guess its that project with recording in peoples houses."

I'm starting to wonder if this is what ZeppDT was talking about. :corn

Did they record in your guest bathroom??
