Man, the more I learn about the story the more amazing this album gets.  I cannot wait until the Graphic Novels come out.

I think if you take the run of songs from Light and forward, and put those songs as an ending to Act IV after King of Swords (replacing the songs already there), it would pretty much be the perfect Act album for me.  :lol

You're missing about half the songs on Act II.
Hey dude slow the fuck down so we can finish together at the same time.

I can't condone that then

But we could make a game out of this. Pick your favourite songs from the five act albums, line them up in an order that actually makes sense (not necessarily story-wise, but at least with regards to flow) and make the whole thing not longer than 80 minutes. Something like a personal best-of.

I'll come up with something later :)

For me it would probably be mostly Act III, IV, and V stuff. One or two I and II songs. I don't know, we'll see.

I'm a bit worried that I murdered the flow, I made a playlist in spotify and will listen to it when I get home though:

1. Battesimo Del Fuoco
2. The Lake South
3. City Escape

4. The Most Cursed of Hands
5. At the End of the Earth
6. Remembered

7. The Bitter Suite i and ii
8. The Bitter Suite iii

9. Mustard Gas
10. The March
11. Son
12. Father
13. Life and Death

Also haven't checked the time so I might've gone way overboard as well.

I had a hard time fitting in Act IV songs because I really wanted to open with Act I, City Escape is phenomenal. Also knew I wanted to close with Son Father Life and Death because that's like, one of my favorite album endings ever.

7. The Bitter Suite I/II
8. The Bitter Suite III

9. The Bitter Suite III
10. The Bitter Suite IV

I hope that's I/II + III + IV/V + VI, I wouldn't be too keen on hearing III twice :P

May brain can't comprehend the fact that neither of you have included A Night on the Town!! That is probably my favourite song of all by TDH. I know at 9 minutes it takes up a bit of space on your compilation but I couldn't leave it out.

I'm going to give it a good go tonight I think. If it works with a nice flow I am actually going to burn a load of copies and hand them out to friends until they all have at least 3 copies each!!!!

I left it off mainly because of the length, and the fact that I think The Lake and the River, which is the same length, is just a better song. Plus there were a few songs from Act IV I wanted on there, and if I were to put A Night on the Town on there, I might have to sacrifice 2 songs for it.

@Train of Naught - Yeah typo, my bad.  :lol

I see your point regarding the length. As it's my favourite song though it's definitely priority.

I think unlike Lake and the River, Night on the Town doesn't do its length justice. Its still an awesome song, but i can name atleast 5 songs on the album i like better that take up way less time.

Just listened to Act V (again...... im addicted help) on my way to college and im on the verge of calling it the best TDH album atm, even though its probably the hype talking. Almost cried during Light :(

So I've drafted an Acts playlist. I'm going to give it a listen and see if I'm happy with the flow before posting. I was planning to use 3 songs from each of the Acts. I got close but ended up using 2 from Act I and 4 from Act IV.

The toughest decision I had to make was cutting Light or Melpomene!! That was difficult but Light just lost out.

WHAAAAAAA Light is so good

Granted, it's not on my own playlist but right now I'm just too hyped about V and couldn't justify putting half of them on there. I definitely prefer Light over Melpomene though.

On a side note, has the guest singer for The Haves Have Naught already been revealed? He sounds an awful lot like Passenger, it would be amazing if a guy that famous would work with Casey for a duet but something tells me it might just be, it's a very unique voice after all.

Honestly, I listened to both songs one after the other about 5 times. Whichever I was listening to I was like "This has got to stay on." I love both songs so much but I made a decision and cut Light. It was hard because I couldn't possibly cut the 4 songs from Act IV, I could've put half the album on to be honest.

The flow is flowing so far

Yea, that took longer than I thought it would.

So many good tunes. It would look very different if I made a compilation covering all their albums.

So much good music.

Combine all five into one coherent album? Interesting challenge. Tough to condense 5 albums worth of story into one, and it really sucks to cut some amazing songs (particularly most of Act I, and most of the background regarding Ms. Terri and TP&TP) for the sake of it, but this is what I got:

1. Battesimo Del Fuoco
2. The Lake South
3. The Lake and the River
4. The Oracles on the Delphi Express
5. Bitter Suite 1 & 2
6. Red Hands
7. In Cauda Venenum
8. What it Means to Be Alone
9. Waves
10. The Bitter Suite IV and V
11. King of Swords
12. Ouroboros
13. Light
14. Gloria
15. A New Beginning

If we were just going by favorite songs it would look a lot different.

Okay, mine is actually slightly too long and pretty heavy on the Act II tracks, but here it is. Story-wise, this song order doesn't make sense whatsoever, but these are most of my favourite tracks from the five acts. It was painful having to cut some great material from Act III and IV. (I cut The Thief, Mustard Gas, At the End of the Earth and King of Swords last).

1. The Lake South
2. City Escape

3. The Procession
4. The Lake and the River

5. Waves
6. He Said He Had a Story
7. The Revival
8. The Bitter Suite I & II
9. The Bitter Suite III

10. Mr. Usher (On His Way to Town)
11. Similing Swine
12. Gloria
13. Red Hands
14. Dear Ms. Leading

15. Wait
16. The March
17. Son
18. Father

For the record my selection was just a compilation of my favourite songs from Acts I-V. There was no semblance of a story arc. Literally just the best songs from the 5 albums

But I'm happy that I managed to add a few songs that reprised with other other songs in the compilation. Like I added The Old Haunt and Smiling Swine, which were both reprised in The March, which was cool. I hope that helped bring it all together, I may have failed though.

I'm also glad I went for Vital Vessels Vindicate as the closer. It's actually kinda perfect in my opinion

Edit: I've had a few drinks and my comment was unclear. My compilation wasn't my favourite songs from Acts I-V, it was my favourite songs (if I limited myself to 3 songs from each album). I'll sleep easy now

Light through A Beginning is basically the perfect half-hour stretch of music, up there in quality with Funeral - Bastard - The Death of Music - Things Beyond Things. The first half of the album is really good as well, but the second half just completely blows it away. My favourite moment right now is probably the chorus of The Flame (Is Gone), so fucking powerful.

I tend to disagree with the first part of your statement (mostly because I just love The Haves Have Naught and Cascade to death), but this one I fully agree with. I actually started appreciating The Fire a bit less because The Flame is such a powerful track and kinda leaves the follow-up speechless. It's still a good song but nothing compared to the first imo.

But Light has been such a special surprise for me. It bored me when it was released as a single, and even before, when they played it live and someone posted it on reddit, but in the context of the album it's so beautiful. :hefdaddy

Are you into the story at all (and if so, have you figured out what this song is about yet?).  When you listen to it in context it's even more epic...

Not really. This is the first TDH album that I have given any serious time of day, but now, given how much I love it, I'll probably go back and give at least the other acts a listen. There's probably no point really getting into the story without having listened to Acts I-IV extensively, but if it's going to increase my appreciation for The Flame (Is Gone), then I'm looking forward to it. :tup

I think knowing the story really adds a whole new level to the appreciation and understanding of the music.  All the reprises seem so much more relevant, and all the connections start to reveal themselves slowly (for example, the first first song on Act I is essentially a foreshadowing of Act V).  There are a couple of decent summaries of the story out there, but I think a lot of what is out there right now is wrong, and a lot of the story elements will become much clearer once this tour is over, since Casey is doing a bunch of VIP sessions where he talks about story details, but the people attending them have been asked not to share that info until the tour is over.
