It's definitely my favorite out of the three. However that may be due to the fact that I can barely listen to either of the first two acts anymore because I've played them to DEATH.

That would be amazing. I also resent the fact that there are, like, 10 Metallica threads at the top of MD and this thread only has four pages.

Dammit, why has my copy not arrived yet?! >:( It better come tomorrow!

'Goon, what part of that forum did you find most useful for plot? There was one thread called "The Complete Story Song By Song" but it is pretty badly worded and a couple of bits I'm not sure I agree with...

The booklet in the Limited Edition version of Act III is excellent for helping with the plot as well.

That thread is good. The original analysis is a little iffy, but there's good discussion in the thread and later on someone posts a far more coherent story. Here's that post: http://lakeandtheriver.com/index.php?s=&showtopic=194&view=findpost&p=50110

I really should listen to this album more, While parts of it are OMGAWESOMELOL like Act II and I are for me, It's so bloody dense that I still haven't taken it all in.

I saw this thread when it was new and I became moderately interested. It's like a month later and TDH is arguably my favorite band.
I have nothing to say except this music is glorious to possibly the greatest degree.

I have actually been having to force myself to listen to something else so I don't get burned out on this album. If it's possible to be in love with a band, I am in love with TDH and have been for a while now.

I'm exactly the same, I've listened to hardly anything else since Saturday!

Damn this album is addictive! :heart

Listen to them in succession. I can't wait to see these guys in October, it's going to be AMAZING. DT will always be my "favorite band", but The Dear Hunter is definitely my favorite band currently.

The Dear Hunter is getting older quickly... I take it he was born in 1878, and if Act III takes place in World War I, which began in 1914, he's in his mid-30's eh? Strange that his dad was still fighting in the war

Unless it's an official music video or otherwise released by the band/label, that's against the rules.

And yes, I'm only being a tool and spouting off the rules because you're the one asking. :heart

Seriously, though: What are some of your favorite bands? I'll give you a few suggestions of what songs to listen to. All their stuff is quite different.

Regarding Welcome Home:

The first minute was so epic I thought I made one of the biggest mistakes of my life not going to that concert. It was just so heavy and epic and proggy, It blew my mind...and then the singer started and I HAD to turn it off *dodges bullets*

I'll see about The Deer Hunter in a bit.

Claudio's voice does take a bit of getting used to.  Its an understandable complaint, although... I'm always a bit surprised to hear it from Dream Theater fans, considering what JLB's voice sounds like.
