It was originally planned?

I would rather Sleepless, because you can't get a clean vocals version of it live and I can't say no to riffage :metal

Fixed.

He didn't say that on the actual blog btw, he just said that when he read the review.

What is everyone's interpretations of the lyrics on WHBWH? It seems to me to be pretty Spiritual, but I have a hard time hearing some of the words, and I can't find a lyrics site that has them.

I've been a lurker there for a while cause it's a good way of finding out about Anathema news but I joined the other day and posted a link to the review. Danny's username is 'Pagan'.

Make sure to read that forum and see how classy Danny acts when there are negative opinions about the album :)

Not really. A lot of people also dislike the album, but going out and saying they are stupid for it is quite embarrassing.

I think if the comments they are making actually are stupid (i.e. that there's no guitar on the album) then it's fine but if not it's a bit OTT.
But tbh, the guys know he posts on the forum and they should be a bit more respectful than telling him to his face that they don't think the album is very good or criticising the fact that Ville Vailo is on the album (totally uncalled for, I mean I don't like HIM at all, but suggesting he's only on it to boost record sales when in fact him and Danny are mates is extremely unnecessary).
He could respond to it better but he feels very protective about his work and if he feels the criticisms are unfair he's entitled to say that.

Whilst it would perhaps be better if he wasn't so OTT about it, it is his work and it's great to see an artist so passionate about their work as well as someone who's willing to communicate to their fans so readily (even if in a defensive way).

Many of the posts sounds like this:
"Judgement and Alternative 4 is the only good albums"
"New album isn't as good as Judgement"
"Judgement and Alternative 4 are my favorite albums of all time, nothing can change that"

Which is just pure fail, because these people have clearly made up their mind before hearing the album even.
Especially the people saying "nothing can top X", how do they know that?
Because they've already made up their minds that the new album WONT be as good as earlier stuff.

Also, that forum is a place for appreciating the band and their music, i don't think comments such as "X sucks" etc. makes any sense, or has any function there whatsoever.
Im not saying you have to like everything by a band, but so many of these people focus on the negative things, instead of pointing out what they really like.
After all, it has taken the band almost 7 years to make this album, and the first comments they get is pretty much "this sucks".

I would've nerdraged even harder then Danny did.  :lol

Flying just broke top 10 Anathema songs, I wonder where it'll stop.

And screw the haters, the new Anathema is easily better than Alternative 4, and slightly better than Judgement :) A Fine Day To Exit is definitely the worst recent album (well 'recent'). I wish they have played release live though, I do LOVE that song.

I bought AND, Judgement and Fine Day To Exit at the same time and at first AND stuck out as the weakest of the three by a mile.

However it's grown on me hugely. I used to really dislike 'Flying' and 'Are You There?', which are now 2 of my faves off the album. Hell, I even didn't like 'Pulled Under At 2000 Metres Per Second' at first  :lol

Are You There? is actually one of my least-favorite songs by Anathema.

Watching Were You There?

It's quite good, but i'm glad I got it cheap to be honest. Vinny seems pretty weak this night, certainly far worse than last week. Lee was worse but was only on a few songs so that didn't matter too much. And while Danny's singing was fine (except Were You there? felt a bit weak compared to his impromptu one when I saw them), his stage presence was loads weaker. At my gig he was...well showing off and  getting the crowd going. On here he just stands there.

Hearing Release and Pulled Under... was amazing though, I missed not hearing them live. One Last Goodbye almost made me tear up too :)

What is Serenades like?

Why do people rate Silent Enigma and Eternity so low? I think they massively atmospheric albums.

Serenades is... different.
Vinnie doesn't sing, and the vocals are mostly growls.
However, i do think "Sleepless" is a top10 Anathema-song.

Also, i love both The Silent Enigma and Eternity, 2 of the more overlooked albums in the discography, they're both amazing.  :D

Darren White is credited for all the vocals, and he sings the clean-parts as well.
However, Vinnie sings on the 96' version from The Silent Enigma. ;)
